i try to be in the ocean or on the beach as frequently as possible. i look at my local beach every day, even if there's no surf. i run or walk on the beach, borrow my sister's kayak, paddleboard (not SUP), swim, skin dive, bodysurf, etc...i've made it a point to try to live as closely as possible to the "waterman ethic". i've also been getting (back) into photography of late, so i'll go take pictures somewhere, whether that's on the beach or someplace else.
in the winter here in nj, it's deff. tougher to stay connected to the beach when it's flat. that's when i do a lot of running on the beach. i'm not hard core enough to go for an ocean swim when the water's sub-40. i swim in the pool a lot, too. these long east coast flat spells, you've got to do something to keep your paddling muscles in some kind of shape if you want to be able to handle a strong side-shore current in a 5mil wetsuit & stay out for more than an hour. i also like to spend time w/ my parrot, gf, & the rest of my family or get caught up on projects around the house.
