how much of the gulf oil spill will affect the atlantic? i know its currently said to be ruining reefs, but do you think itll reach the atlantic? this whole thing is disgraceful and really pisses me off to see that this could even happen. i am sincerely concerned with the way the water life will be affected and how this could possibly change our way of living onshore
apparently it's looping out around the east coast of FL across the biggest reef in the area into the Gulf Stream and up the Atlantic coast all the way to Hatteras before heading out into the Atlantic Ocean. The news said VA north wouldn't be affected, or at least shouldn't... i heard the spill is actually putting out five times what they originally said (200,000 gallons of oil per day), so about 1,000,000 gallons of oil per day. water and oil separate naturally so the marine life and ecosystems are more or less screwed... they said 6 dolphins washed up dead somewhere but you can imagine that's only a fraction of what's really going on in the Gulf. the president of BP made some bull**** statements saying that the spill was small in comparison to other oil spills, and i'm sure he's already regretting that one. definitely boycott BP. we shouldn't even be still be using oil anymore anyways, it's just ashame

there's a risk involved with getting us our $2.70/gallon gas and I'm surprised it took this long for this to happen. I'm also surprised it doesn't happen more often.
I can't believe people are now seeing $2.75/gallon as normal. Even 7 years ago it was $1.45/gallon. Growing up it was 85 cents/gallon.
Our dependency on oil is the problem here. Until we can change that, we'll either be exploiting our oceans or at the mercy of other countries for supply. The only good thing I've seen come out of this BP disaster is that the government is proposing upping the liability limit from $75M to $10B. This only helps on the reactive side though, when we really need proactive changes. I know people need to drive cars, drive semis, operate farming equipment, etc - but we need to find another way to power all of them.
I know another way... take over the middle east and get the oil. Gas prices might be back to $1.00 gallon..
Or perhaps bring back the electric car? It is a privilege to drive, not a right.

Hey folks hang in there the end is near. Catch the last waves because all hell is letting loose. Our mother earth is now very,very ill it shall never,ever recover from this disaster. Big money and progress has choked us all. Hold your breathe and enjoy the ride it won't be long. Repent on the way too. We wanted oil we got oil... be careful what you wish for.
