define near the beach? Rutgers isn't that far nor are some of the Pharm schools in Philly. Sometimes you need to put surfing on hold to pursue your career and this sounds like one of those times.

    You mean, Pharmacology...

My friend went to University of the Sciences in Philly for Pharmacology. It is about an hour from New Jersey beaches.

I couldn't tell you, I didn't go there... I do know it is a 6 year program, including 1 year of residency work.

This is bad advice in my opinion. This is the "live to work or work to live" debate. I did put life on hold to pursue a career because that is what you're "supposed" to do, and now despite making a very good living at what I do, I somewhat regret that choice. I think it's important to find a balance, but life is too short to not do the things you love for a career unless that career IS what you love. If your career is just your way to make money, it's just work, not life. And living life is what really matters. A person needs to analyze this choice for themselves and no one should push a choice or responsibility like that on someone. It's their life to live and if surfing is what they love and what makes them happy they should 100% be allowed to maintain it as a priority in their life.

Rutgers is close enough to the beach to still surf, but you might find better choices down in Florida or CA. You should thoroughly research this on your own to make sure you know your options.
