I work out a lot and think about how strong I will be for the next swell. I dropped 5 pounds in the last 2 weeks which is really good for me.

Every surfer gets jaded. It will come and go. When your stoked your stoked, when your not your not. When its flat, people fight to stay stoked because they cant paddle out. If you live where there is surf everyday, there is still an internal struggle to motivate yourself to paddle out everyday... So its opposite ends of the spectrum... You must fight for your stoke forever... whether it be havnig kids and finding time to still surf... Not taking that job that lands you land locked somewhere... Fighting with your wife on your day off so you can run down to the beach and surf... Life for a surfer is always wrestling with your own stoke level and trying to balance it with the rest of your life....

So, I guess my advice would be, that it probably isn't the east coast that is busting your stoke... Cause the guys I know on this site and in reality who all live in the mid-atlantic are by far the most stoked people I know. Cause when there are waves, you guys really take advantage of them and relish the times when you get them... So, although relocating to where the waves are make it sound easy, it the same struggle in different ways....

Just keep focused and surf when you can... The rest will fall into place... good luck.

Boner surf, thank you for the PROPER meaning of Jaded. I would call the guy an idiot, but I may get kicked off again for calling names. LOL. what a joke!

The term Jaded can also simply mean to lack enthusiasm. So in this case, he did use the word properly and I don't see why you felt the need to point out that he hadn't. You knew what he meant anyway.

To keep my enthusiasm for surfing wayy up, I watch tons of surf videos, longboard down some big hills and while traversing try to imagine maneuvers I'd be doing in the water, and even visiting this site often keeps your stoke up. It's fun to talk surf, cause' then you never forget about it.

I've been jaded on surfing for a while now but I still force myself to go every chance I get. I can't get to the beach as often since I had my daughter a year ago and my friend that I use to surf with all the time moved to HI, so it's not quite the same. It's still fun when I go, but I have to motivate myself and when the waves suck, it's all the more difficult, especialliy being solo.

What zach said was spot on. You just have to find things to do to keep occupied and in shape. Take a trip too. when I lose my stoke a good trip always gets it back.

Not only that, when add in other things like summer crowds (in and out of the water), cold winters, etc, it's a wonder that anybody surfs for very long in the mid-atlantic.
