Ohhh god... Don't get me started on this topic. Look up "Pacific Trash Vortex." Its a huge vortex of plastic trash the size of texas floating in the pacific ocean. The plastic parts break down into small tiny pieces and are then eaten by fish, and that is whats causing high mercury levels in fish in the pacific. I read a study that said if the mercury rate in seafood continues to rise at the pace it is now, that in 20-30 years, the mercury levels will be too high to even consider eating. Seafood will basically become poison.
