Just checked the vah beach updated forcasts that just came out here and it only has it head high at the biggest during this swell. The storm is coming west of bermuda and only head high. ???????????? Laugh my ass off. what are you guys doing
[SIZE="2"]There is something about busting on [COLOR="Magenta"]VAHBEACH that i really get a kick out of. I remember iwas in town one time and surfed first street jetty on a borrowed board because it was like almost waste high and going off with a nice barrel folding over right on the beach. Everybody was out and i remember this one guy with his $1000 custom gun trying to catch waves but culdn't hook up. He was so serious and aggro...it didnt look like he was having any fun at all. I felt like i was surfing in the mouth of the chesapeake bay....oh wait vabeach is actually the mouth of the bay.

Reason: wrong color
Does anyone consider Va beach being in the mouth of the chesapeake bay. If you look at a map it sure looks close
Technically it's not a part of the bay. It's open ocean. The bay is pretty well defined, and the salinity off VA beach is that of pure saltwater. Even at the mouth of the bay, you will be in the high 20's (ppt). But once you move off shore it gets salty real quick (ocean water is 35 ppt).
There is a plume of sediment that comes out of the bay and shoots south. On the north side of the bay you have clean ocean water moving in. That's why VA beach is so brown, but the Eastern Shore is typically much, much cleaner. Most people probably don't even know that, because they haven't been to the beaches on the Eastern Shore. I haven't been there but I'm familiar with the geography of the area.
