    First Board Help

I've been learning to ride on a 7 ft fun board on smaller days and a retro fish whenever I can that's 6'5" 21" 3 1/8". I'm 5'9, 145 lbs. I can go right or left and bottom turn well. I'm getting better at carving and top turns, and am starting to try out cutbacks, floaters on smaller waves, etc.

But I've gotten to a point where I feel like the board is holding me back. I want to get a new board but I don't know what to get and I'm still worried bout f***ing up a brand new board in that VB shorebreak. I know I want something thinner and shorter, prob like 5'10" to 6', rideable on the smaller days but allow me to charge hard when the swells hit.

Really hoping for your help members. New or Used? Dimensions? Shape? # of fins?

I need all the help I can get so any advice is appreciated. Long time reader, first time posting.

Talk to a local shaper and get a custom! Any type of fish is an all around great board to have.

the fish shouldnt be holding you back. it should progress you pretty well, a lot of dudes rip on a fish. learn the board better. with the speed you get from a fish tricks should come easy.

Havent started surfing yet but I have been shopping around for my first board. I came across a company in VA Beach. I am thinking about either getting a custom one from them or just going to WRV. Just putting it out there for ya
