as for the question posed: republicans and the tea party are the ones at least saying your personal rights and freedom to do what you want, when and where you want to are their priority- follow liberal collectivism to it's illogical end: is your pursuit of waves a valuable use of the collectives resources (gas for your car to chase waves, petrochemicals for your boards and wetsuits, the air you breath? remember you exhale Co2 and that's a pollutant!) they want to control distribution of?

man i love dk. wearing their shirt right now. i remember being told back in the 80s i would grow out of them, but at 39 i still rock them out. got to see them before their breakup while jello was still on vocals.

If you like Socialism vote democrat. That way you can be told how much you should make, what you can spend it on, who to give the rest to, what you can eat, what doctor you can see and have some bureaucrat tell you if and when you can have your operation. Remember, you will be old then and that cancer surgery is a lot to spend on an old guy. Take a pill - that will ease the pain. Also, If you like, you can stop working and collect and get free health care. Don't worry though - the people who are still working will pay for you. That is until it does not pay to work any more (with all the tax increases and all to pay for all the free stuff). You will rely on the government for just about everything so your vote to keep them in power will be automatic. We won't need the 1st or 2nd Amendment any more because the government will not want anyone stirring up any trouble and they will protect us. When you die your kids may see a small portion of what you left them.
Some will think what I said is all BS but big government is not the answer. I'm not saying republicans are angels and always have our best interests in mind but right now I think its the only way to go. I see a strong third party in our future. i don't know if this is sarcasm or not, but yeah it's sadly looking like this more, and more. growing up i actually was really into socialism. in high school i researched it a lot, and thought it sounded great, after delving more into it i realized it was actually not an ideaology i was so supportive of. so back in 1986 when i was not even old enough to vote i would have loved to see a candidate like obama come, and save the country from reagan. i voted for obama myself in 08, but he and his so called democrats are giving everyone in the middle class the screw. i work too hard to give all my money to the federal government. MOST people do. the people who do not are those who set the regulations. this health care thing is crap. just a bs tax. this administration is actually gonna drive people into poverty rather than make the poor prosper. i won't say every democrat is like this, but they are all politicians, and i don't trust ANY of them. donkey or elephant.

actually last year was the first time i ever voted a republican in my life. well i might have on a local municipal level, but not on a state or national level. i voted chris christie for governor of jersey. corzine had 4 years, and i didn't see anything good going on there so i thought it was time to throw the bum out. christie i don't like him that much, but he's done more in his not even a year in office than most even if a lot of what he's done i don't agree with. property taxes going up sky high just to give raises to these workers in the towns when no one else even gets a raise, and god knows what else they are doing with the money. if i don't like christie i'll vote him out in 2013 thats all. just like i'm voting obama out in 2012. tomorrow i'm torn. i might vote democrat for a few, and i might vote republican for a few. i don't like republicans anymore than the bleeding heart liberals like them. i think they should but out with all of this moral crap like abortion rights, and gay marriage bans. i think the government should control gay marriage as much as they should control my health care. in other words not at all.

For all those who think taxes are way too high, it might be worth looking at comparisons over the past ten years. Taxes (except for the high earners) have remained essentially stable since 2003, and prior to that the fat cats paid more of their share. Take a look:

I bought a house last year, so under Obama I paid 8k less in taxes than the previous year... worked out pretty well for me

as far as tax brackets go what about next year? all the brackets might go up. the 10% one will be no more. i still wanna see how this pans out. i myself will s h i t a brick if they go up for everyone. personally i think the more money you make the more you should be taxed. the individuals though. not the businesses as a whole. cause i myself would not wanna pay the same amount of taxes as someone who makes a million a year would or should. so i am fine with paying more taxes than someone making $30000 a year. by the way $30 grand a year in jersey is pretty damn near poverty level. if you are supporting a family on $30 grand a year in jersey you are probably not getting by too good at all. i don't see how they are getting by at all. everyone who loves this obama how do you feel about this wonderful health care overhaul? fining people who don't purchase health insurance? what about people who can't afford it? oh yeah the government will give you assistance yeah. i would like to see the government give assistance to someone making $40 grand a year for health insurance. aint gonna happen. not to mention health care is going up even more than the last few years, and they went up a lot in the last few years. some peoples policies have already went up ten percent in the last year. so a family who doesn't get benefits for health at their jobs that buys their own policy who paid say $1200 bucks a month this last year are seeing their premiums rise to $1320 a month!


don't get me wrong. sarah palin, all these tea party characters, all these ''we want less government, and don't want them interfering in our lives, oh and marriage is sacred, and blah blah blah blah no gay marriage, blah blah blah blah'' and all this glenn beck commentary. i don't like them anymore than i do obama. i probably dislike them more than obama. i don't like all this crap going on down in arizona harrassing anyone who looks like a foreigner. i don't like any of it. this health insurance thing is garbage. especially the excise tax. it actually sounds like something the republicans would do to be honest. only the republicans would say if you don't have insurance we're gonna turn you away at the emergency room! yeah i know reagan the republican warrior was behind not turning away folks at the emergency room. regardless it sound like something they would do. how about social security? seniors haven't gotten a raise since this guy has been in office, but he has money to give to other countries, and big corporations, and the banks, and all that? i have to pay self employment tax. do you know what i pay in social security taxes a year for my business can probably pay for at least one persons yearly social security benefits, and then some?

Actually, despite all the so called gripes about "big government and Fed Gov't incompetence," the Feds do quite a good job administering Social Security and Medicare. I have more serious concerns about how the Department of Defense is administered. What happens in the private sector in terms of fraud, waste, abuse and theft can be quite surprising -- but companies are closed systems and don't like to air their dirty laundry. It is written off as the cost of doing business.
