Here are a few def rentals to have on your list:

Tres Amigos Beach house: right at Dogmans & Marias, literally on the beach at Dogmans. For a group of people, SICK place to stay. www.tresamigosbeachhouse.com

Pools Beach: Another great place to stay, eat, and surf. Right at Domes and close to Sandy Beach. They have a pool with a huge movie screen that plays surf videos and they also have awesome sushi. Place can rock at night too! www.poolsbeach.com

Fish Eye View: This is an amazing spot and the owners are actually from NJ. The guy runs the parasailing in both Belmar, NJ and Rincon. The place is on top of the hill overlooking Marias and is highly reccomended by me and my crew.

Lazy Parrot: Another place to stay that also has great food and a nightlife. A five minute drive to the ocean, but it's def a nice place to stay.


I'm heading down Dec 17-23, usually I stay at Tres Amigos, but this time I'm doing half the trip at Pools and the other half at Fish Eye. I'm am beyond excited to get down there and SURF & PARTY!

Make sure you DON'T lock your car doors. Leave the windows open and doors unlocked just don't leave anything in the car. Leave valuables in your room and stash the key someplace you can see it from the water. That's what we did since we heard stories of guys smashing the window of a locked car just to find out there was nothing there. That's my advice might be over the top but if the window gets broken you will be charged. If the car gets stolen that is not your responsibility.

Briza's or Breezza's or something like that is pretty cool pool bar. The food place (if it's still there) right next door will have you eating like a king for like $3.

Ask the locals about the waterfall in the woods. Not sure how to get there but if it goes flat and you have a car, that is where you will want to spend an afternoon or two. Cliff jumping, caves and a waterfall in the middle of the woods.

watch out for sea urchins, if you have some 2 mil reef boots you might want to bring them in case. the reef is sharp it will chew up your fins, the bottom of your board and your feet/hands if you let it.

Look for a guy named Leon with blond dreads he can show you the ropes. I think he might still work at Casa Verde and he looooves crispy barrels bro!

CR is better why? Less Puerto Ricans.. Seriously PR is really beautiful island waves can be really good or it can suck... Meaning Flat.... But in dec jan it should be good hope you like crowds and body boarders cause its hard to get away from them there up before sunrise paddle out as it is getting light and leave when the locals come out and drop on top of you... Rincon isnt as bad as isabella or aquadilla but also doesnt pick up the swell when its small so travelling is a must unless you get a good swell then Rincon will be going off and not so much localism.. Last time I was there over ten years ago so probably only worse now. But still a must do experience for any NJ surfer.. Next time goto CR and you can see the diff for yourself like I did when I started travelling pr is and like stated from TOm Luker on my first trip staying with him a Great first surf trip!!! you will be stoked with your trip but will want to go else where next time.. Have fun watch your car leave windows open and doors unlock and nothing in it when you surf..

When I went they would not even rent us a car because we were under 21 at the time. We had to go to some sleazy car rental place that charged us so much extra money. Fees for being under 25 then additional fees since they no one would rent to people under 21. But without the car it would have sucked.

if you want extremely cheap, you're going to want to bring a ****load of bug spray. the "cheap" stuff there is going to be completely gross, unless you're okay with that.
if you're staying in Rincon, you're going to be near a bunch of good waves.

bro you are the most reliable guy i love it... its great getting a human perspective on the waves besides looking at the forecast plus u always do it like 6 in the morn ( why r u up so early lol? )

I'm actually planning a trip there for February. Ive never been, but I have a friend who goes multiple times every year. He has 3 kids, so he rents a house. I think thats what we'll be doing too (the fams tagging along). Im not too picky, but we'd prefer something fairly nice and not too remote. has anyone had any experience with renting? If a house doesnt work out, we're probably going to try for a condo. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated!
