Santa needs help picking out a surfboard

    Hey guys,

My friend's husband wants a new surfboard for Christmas. His best friend gave us these dimensions (below)... I need some help because I know a good amount about longboards but not shorties. Let me know! Thanks in advance.

    -5'10 in length
    -Mini swallow (tail)
-2 3/8" thickness (could be a little thicker)
    -Classic white (not many graphics)

    brand new or used?

Did his best friend get the dimensions from him?

If it were me I know I would like to do the shopping for my board. But thats just me.

If you are going new, don't let the sales guy in the shop lead you right over to the $700 Channel Islands racks.

Best friend got dimensions from him. He would like a BRAND new board and is down with being surprised. Oddly enough, he's been surfing for years and every board has been given to him. He's never bought a board.

    I found these:

    • Rusty 510 Dwart
    • Rusty Piranha 5'10
    • Channel Islands Flyer 5'10

    Any good?

it would help if you knew what kind of waves he wanted to surf it in.

All around CI Flyer, or something similar. Every shaper copies the flyer. The slayer looks awesome but is kind of a unique/niche board (I personally want one). The piranha is generally a small wave board

but find out what kind of waves he is looking to use it in.

He surfs in Belmar and prefers knee to chest waves. So, I'd assume a board that would do good in those conditions. I know that this is still broad... it's kind of hard picking out something SO personal for someone. But, like his buddy said "a new board is a new board!"

take those dims to a local shaper and save 300 bucks over the rusty or CI. you MIGHT get it by christmas if you act fast, and the bottom could say "merry christmas (dude)" right under the glass. Now thats a thoughtful gift... PM me if you need help finding a shaper in va / obx area.
