Ok so there has been tons of talk going on about the outer banks lately, but what some of you may not know, is that much of the outer banks may be closed soon to public access.

If the Auduobahn Society and other wildlife groups win a current law suite, Pea island national wildlife refuge will be closed. That means no S turns, no Boilers, no Horseshoe Bay, no Rodanthe pier, no Shipwrecks. These waves are among the best and most consistant breaks on the east coast. They must be saved!!

So Please, do your part and help. Its very simple just simply send an E-mail with your Name and Hometown to SaveCapeHatteras@realwatersports.com. Time is of the essence here, apparently the bill could be passed within the week!!! So please take a few seconds and send your Name and Hometown to SaveCapeHatteras@realwatersports.com, and please tell anyone and everyone to do the same!!!

yeah another example GOVERMENT CONTROL and people with TOO MUCH TIME ON THEIR on their hands i am all for saving the envoirment it is not like we hunt the birds people are having a hard time feeding themseilves and these people hippies hippicrites wanna save the birds then the rangers can write more tickets so the goverment can profit from a bird so once again is it really about the enviorment or is it about the all mighty dollar yeah dont spend your time and money to save people but to save the plover you can believe i will bring the grill the beer and the sweet tea for one last session at boilers and we will eat us some plover

This is a good example of the government letting us down again. It all started because there was no environmental impact report for the park concerning ORV use. So the Pew Environmental groups went for the jugular in their lame attempt to protect the piping plovers. Technically Hatteras is a National Recreational Area and not a National Park, so I can't believe they are closing off access to vehicles. This is a tragedy and the equivalent of a nuclear bomb in the the angling world. If people can't drive on the beach to catch those trophy red drum and stripers they aren't going to take their vacations there, and a lot of fishing guides and tackle shops are hurting big time. The enviros went overboard and the gov't let us down again.

The points you brought up is why this will never pass..to much profit loss/tourism dollars would leave. At worse, they'll set up a toll booth at South side of the Oregon Inlet Bridge or something like they do in other state/national parks...to make money under the claim "it goes towards saving the parks and environment". Also they will probably make "driving on the beach" require one to get a permit (and charge $$ for it). End of the day, fisherman and surfers can still gain access to where they want to go but it will no longer be free,and have other restrictions making it more challenging to get there.

Where are your sources? What does the actual wording of the suit say? What does this phrase actually mean - "Pea island national wildlife refuge will be closed" - closed to cars, surfers, swimmers, etc?
