im planning a trip to ft pierce between november 10th and 14th. looking for someone to go with. im driving and taking care of gas. in return i would expect some pointers, and advice. Id like to watch all facets of surfing from someone who knows what their doing. untill then i will be practicing my paddling, and pop up around the gulf here in bradenton. it will def be good times.

My opinion on a number one tip though. Start with a medium to large sized board regardless of your abilities in other boardsports. One that at the very least 6 inches longer than you are tall. I would go at least 7-8ft if I were you though. Mini-longboard being the ideal if money isn't a concern.

Perfect, My small wave board is a 6' 8" Superfish. I used it to help transition from longboarding to shortboarding.

If I were you I would go to Cocoa Beach instead of Ft. Peirce. From B'ton, its a lot faster, you can go I-4 then take 528 (Bee-line expressway) and save yourself almost an hour. Not to mention, its a lot safer (Im assuming your planning on taking SR 70 all the way, 2 lane, slow go, big trucks...it can be dangerous).I also think that the crowd at cocoa is much better suited for a beginner than the Fort peirce inlet. If you go to the beach near ron jons, there are all types of surfers, from beginners to experts, as well as surf instructors if your interested.

ok cocoa beach it is. ive only been here for 9 months so i really dont know the ways of the road. besides it sounds as if cocoa will match my lack of skill. empty waves are the best right now. i hope i dont run into a bunch crazed children. I was attempting to surf a week ago down at coquina and after i was in the water for an hour everybody and their kid got in with boogie boards at the break line, so i got ran out there so to speak. they were not moving. question? is the surf spot at white ave considered "localized" and when it is breaking there is there room to the north or south (couple hundred yards) for a begginer to catch waves and stay outta more skilled riders way? im 34 years old and remember how i was when a new kid came to the park. just to get this out there: Im starting surfing to stay active and i cant afford golf this winter. im not fond of the word kook

Welcome to thunderdome....dude u gotta think about these kids here, they live at the beach so expect surf all the time, but dont ever get it, its like a mental mind funk, when they get it they wanna catch every wave, but you see what happenes at 1st and 2nd jetty, so many people sit out there waiting for wave that it cant hold the swell, so everyone sits out there like ugh, what happened....but hey dude, locals are locals, and i was a local when i lived up north, just stand your ground, and watch out for skinheads...lol..peace

well i am a skinhead as far as looks go ha ha. I even have tatoos on my back in latin so i must look tough! ha ha. im 34 with a kid and very non aggresive so ill keep surfing my lil quiet spot. untill my skill points increase. i caught my first 2 waves the other day (as far as i rode the green part of the wave and got the feeling) it was like a 3 ft wave but definitely got the feeling im looking for.
