So Micah, would it be reasonable to say that with so much upwelling this summer that maybe, just maybe, the water will stay warm into December? I can hope can't I?

upwelling is a short term process - has nothing to do with seasonal temperature trends.

The same process happens in the winter time -> S/SW leads to upwelling colder water.
