Event: NYBB PRO - USBA 2007 Event #3
When: September 5 - 9
Where: Long Beach, New York
Forecast Summary Update: Effective: Tuesday September 6, 2007 10:30am
We continue to monitor the area of low pressure hanging off the Southeast coast... This system has struggled overnight in its organization as strong vertical shear has impeded development. But not to fret my friends, we are hopefully, as the wind shear is expected to decrease over the next 24 hours, which should allow for an environment favorable for development of this system.
So, what does this mean for the NYBB Pro? It still looks like Sunday will be the best day for surf. Model guidance suggests that a SE fetch will develop towards the NY region late Friday and into Saturday and provide a steady shot of 2-4' surf for Western Long Island on Sunday. Below is a Swellinfo East Coast wave map showing SE fetch pointed towards the Long Island region.
This is a tentative forecast for now, as the storm system has yet to develop. Check back as we will update this forecast every morning and fine tune the forecast over the next few days.
On a side note, all riders need to prepared to be on call every day to compete, so check in with NYbodyboarding.com for the official times for competition. Also, competitors may want to stick around for Monday, as there is the potential for prime surf.
