A man swimming off the coast of Solana Beach, CA was violently attacked and killed by a shark Friday morning. Firefighters who responded to the scene, reported the victim was training for a triathalon with about 10 others in wetsuits, when he was suddenly dragged under water and subjected to severe wounds to his legs. The man was brought to shore, but was already reported dead from the great loss of blood.
Experts believe the attack was likely from a Great White shark. This is the first reported fatal shark attack in San Diego since 1959, and there is now a 72 hour advisory to stay out of the water around Solana Beach and the surrounding areas.
