FOR THE EASTERN NORTH PACIFIC...EAST OF 140 DEGREES WEST LONGITUDE..

OVERALL TROPICAL CYCLONE ACTIVITY IN THE BASIN DURING JUNE WAS
SOMEWHAT ABOVE NORMAL.  TWO TROPICAL STORMS FORMED...BOTH OF WHICH
REACHED HURRICANE INTENSITY.  ADRIAN HAD A PEAK INTENSITY AS A
CATEGORY FOUR HURRICANE.  WHILE THE NUMBER OF TROPICAL STORMS WAS
NEAR THE LONG-TERM AVERAGE...TWO HURRICANES IS ABOVE THE AVERAGE OF
ONE...AND A MAJOR HURRICANE IS OBSERVED IN JUNE IN THE EASTERN
PACIFIC ONLY ABOUT ONCE EVERY FIVE YEARS.
