Surfing in Malibu, CA with my new GoPro Surf HD camera that I got. Mounted to my 5'6" Fish. Had some small, soft waist high waves rolling through. Tried to keep board movement down to a minimum because I didn't want to make it unwatchable.... couldn't find any barrels to tuck into this day.... overall very stoked on how the footage came out. Loved being able to watch my whole session after I'd gotten out of the water. Can't wait to take it out in bigger waves.

Built a helmet camera rig from a Bern Macon H20 helmet and the GoPro forward facing helmet mount. First time surfing around here. Found some clean little waves breaking on the sandbar on Superbowl Sunday. Sort of a dumpy little break no bigger than waist high. Felt great to get back into the water even though the waves were tiny. Perfect to give the rig a try, and see how the perspective looks. I think it looks really cool! I can also flip the camera up to face forward for a normal POV shot. Can't wait to take it out in some bigger waves and see what other kinds of looks I'll get from people trying to figure out what the hell I have on my head....

From a few Valentine's days ago... A great day. Valentines Day: a nice swell pushes through New England, best spots in Newport were pushing sets more than Double Over Head. Some great rides.

Jon Wegener of Wegener surfboards stopped over in Rhode Island to talk about the Alaia boards they are making. He also gave us a little demonstration and let us all go out and try for a few waves on the beautiful hand crafted Alaia. The waves were almost non existent, mushy, shin to knee high slop, but as you can see, even in crap surf, these boards really fly. They are insane belly boards, and are very difficult to get standing on. It's like learning how to surf all over again. Jon makes it look easy. All in all, they're beautiful hand crafted works of art, and it was a privilege to meet Jon and ride a Wegener board.

Here's the full length edit of surfing in Rhode Island RI during Hurricane Bill on Sunday morning. This features almost all the best clips I gathered from the morning featuring surfers Justin Casey, Ian Walsh, Garrett McNamara, and Chris Kelly along with a number of unidentified rippers. Great waves, some small barrels, and a packed lineup. Music: Nine Inch Nails - Discipline
