This short film started out as a surf film and morphed into a surf still photo project. I included some stills from some of the places I have been: Jamaica, Santa Barbara, CA, Southern Delaware Beaches, Ventura, CA, and Ocean City, MD. I think there is one shot from Avalon, N.J. in there too (look for the photo of the three colorful doors in the field). Enjoy!
Surf Roots is a short surf film inspired by the many hours I have spent surfing the Naval Jetty at Cape Henlopen State Park, DE. The footage is from Summer and Fall 2008 and there were some nice waves rolling in. When conditions are right, just like any spot, this place can get really good. Enjoy!
I have wanted to make a black and white surf movie for a long time. I had the idea in the winter of 2006...I was looking outside and thinking of the loneliness of winter surfing on the east coast. Lonely paddles lead to uncrowded waves in the winter in the mid-Atlantic region, but at a cost. This film has the color properties of an east coast winter with a touch of some really sweet soul from California. Enjoy...
Freedom is a short surf video (5 minutes) that I made trying to convey both the haunting and cool nature of surfing. I went for a late 1960's, early 1970's feel and vibe. I used a lot of tempo changes to create a mood.
