The culprit is a cold North wind blowing at 22mph plus. This has chopped up the surface conditions & is leaving us w/a wind chill that fells like the low 30's Fahrenheit. Wave hight is in the chest high range but there are no predictable sections, just a very strong side-shore current: NOTE: OUR 1ST DELIVERY OF SURFBOARDS SHOULD BE SHOWING UP THIS WEEK INCLUDING STEWART LONG BOARDS FROM CALIFORNIA. Not looking good at the moment windy and small. It does look like it might clear up later today but the wind could be getting stronger. I will take another look around noon. Have fun and be safe.
photos taken from the truck window so hard to say how big the surf really is. a cold, rainy, windy day here today. wind forecast to be NE at 15 to 25 mph becoming NW later today. water temp yesterday was around 60 but it should drop with the wind change.
Waist high with some bigger sets. Winds are light W early but will increase later in the day. NW winds forecasted for late in the day. More SW wind swell for the end of the week.
The pictures tell it all! At this posting, the wind is WSW at 15 to 17mph and wave height on the faces is nose high. Quick but make bale sections w/steep drops. Probably the best surf I have seen in about 3 weeks. Plus we have mild air temps and water temps on the northern beaches are in the 47 to 50 degrees range Fahrenheit. You should pull out your high performance 6 3” round tail or put some bigger fins on your fish for better control. NOTE: JASON & I ARE IN THE SHOP TODAY! GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP
