Corolla, NC:
The crew survived Irene and we are now cleaning up our homes. North Corolla just had falling tree limbs. Our friends on the sound did get flooding from the Currituck Sound. Power was restored in Corolla about an hour ago. Surf Wise...We surfing neck high barrels on the North Beaches. Most breaks were closing out but if you find could find a sandbar w/the correct angle, the were barrels to be had!!!GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP: we will open tomorrow at 8 until we close down to go surfing!!!

Tamarindo, CR:
Saturday was a a pretty rough day here in Tamarindo. The winds were racing onshore in an apparent effort to get over and join the hurricane over on the Atlantic side. The water stayed pretty choppy for most of the day and the waves stayed close together with very little organization. Today started about the same with onshore winds and a lot of chop in the water. The waves did clean up a bit and managed some organization in the late morning with the tide coming in. They were mostly in the waist high range. In the early afternoon the winds started moving around quit a bit, and the water cleaned up considerably. Once the wind finally managed to kick all the way around and stay offshore the waves took on much better shape with a few lefts and rights staying open for some long rides. The currents were pretty strong pulling over to the River Mouth while the tide was still coming in.
