Good morning! It is a windy start to the morning out here on Pensacola Beach. The surf is up. The winds are coming out of the S at 14 mph causing for choppy conditions. The surf is only knee to thigh high and the form is poor. The waves are pretty disorganized at the pier. The tide will be coming in until 11:05 this afternoon and then will be going out the rest of our daylight hours. The winds are supposed to stay like this pretty much all day. They are supposed to switch out of the SE and maybe the swell direction will be better. This straight South swell isn't doing the pier an favors. Have a great day. We will update at midday.
I just the surf outside my break: Decent thigh to waist surf and relatively clean despite the on-shore (ESE). The sections were makable. Once the tide drops, you might be able to ride something shorter than longboard. (There might have been a discrepancy in water temp reporting from yesterday to today.) Duck Research Pier reported Sunday's temperature to be 57 degrees Fahrenheit; today they are reporting 46 degrees: NOTE: WE LOVE TO TRADE-IN'S. BRING YOUR OLD STICK IN AND USE IT AS TRADE BAIT. Monday April 14th 2014. Surf was very good today in Santa Teresa. Waves were shoulder to head high with a few bigger sets late in the afternoon. New SW swell slowly filling in, but the reef hasn't quite started working yet. The beach break was fun and there were lots of very fun rides at the peak upfront Blue Surf Sanctuary. Clean conditions in the morning.
