Sunday was a doable surf day. Today is a different story. The ENE wind has kicked up swell (chest plus) but it is very choppy. The side shore wind is also giving us a strong side shore current and a wind chill. Forecasted air temps will be below the freezing mark around 11:00 PM. In summary: side-shore current, a wind chill in the low 30's to high 20's and a rough ocean. NOTE: THE COROLLA SURF SCHOOL IS 18 YEARS OLD. THAT'S A LOT OF EXPERTISE. Good morning! It is a beautiful Monday morning out here on Pensacola Beach. The air temp is 56° and the winds are reading calm at the beach. This is causing for glassy conditions on Pensacola Beach. The surf is basically flat and looks to stay that way for the rest of the week. There was a bump on Wednesday but that has gone away. We will keep our eyes on the Gulf! Come on spring! Yesterday gave me some spring fever! I am sick of being cold. We measured the water temperature yesterday and the water is still holding at 56°. Have a great Monday.
The surf conditions are a slight improvement over yesterday. The winds have backed off, wave height is thigh to waist and surface conditions are semi-choppy. H2O & air temps are about the same at 39-41 degrees Fahrenheit. Corolla's sand bar are looking good. A couple of large Northeaster's that pull will more sand out to sea would help but I'm feeling optimistic about this summer's surf breaks. GARY, CORLLA SURF SHOP
