It is unfortunate that teachers are getting the short end of the stick with Christie's policies. But I really like how he is trying to shift how our Govt is run and making people start to realize that they should not rely on Govt jobs and pensions. There are just too many people relying on the Govt...think private.
i agree. i have a friend i longboard with when its small, and as soon as he gets up he goes into some sort of pig-dog death barrel speed crouch. i have no idea why he does it, but i guess going to from a short board to a longboard can be tough for people
Yea for sure. I've always thought that's the reason WHY it's such a good thing to ride a variety of different shapes. I sometimes get so dialed into a particular board that I find my style becoming stale and boring. If I switch, you stop tuning yourself to the board and focus instead on the wave itself and everything it can offer. That way, you go back to your normal shortboard (or whatever you ride most) and see a whole new perspective. Unless of course you live on the east coast like all of us and don't feel like "wasting a day" getting dialed into a new board.
I don't prefer one or the other. Both can be fun. As others have said, the conditions dictate the board. Lately, I've been riding a mid-size quad fish.
"......I really like how he is trying to shift how our Govt is run and making people start to realize that they should not rely on Govt jobs and pensions. There are just too many people relying on the Govt......." Did Christie come up with this while he was flying to his sons baseball game in a taxpayer funded $12.5 million dollar government hellicopter??? Sorry, just messin around. Couldn't resist.
I have 2 Toyotas and a Honda all have been great cars and we have never had an issue with any of them. My wifes Scion XA has 270,000 miles and runs like new.
Oh yeah we did hit 3 deer on 3 seperate occasions with the XA, insurance payed for the repairs and it was as good as new each time. I hate deer.
i don't want to turn this into a political rant thread, but it's not just teachers. yea, he frequently singles them out, unfairly in my mind. yes, i'm biased as i'm a public school teacher. but christie has a thing against ANY public employee & ANY job that's unionized. the only shift he's trying to make is to continue to make the rich richer & the poor poorer. christie is the WORST kind of republican...hypocritical & clueless. contrary to what believers in reaganomics think, privitization is not a cure-all panachea.
LOL! good question. the truck. dunno about the deer; it did get up & run away, but i have no clue how long it lasted. the truck had a cracked block after that, so the fact that it lasted for 2 more weeks was pretty impressive in my mind.
Govt Christie has to make cuts. There are some Jersey tax payers that have 57% of their income taken by government. Teachers are great but most public employees suck (DMV workers). Cut public programs and employment and give everyone the money back that was stolen from them.
bought an '89 E-150,loaded up the family, boards, etc.,drive all night to Hatteras, then BANG! hit two deer at once in the middle of the night in the middle of Virginia.pulled over, everything was fine, back on our way, just a couple dents and busted the plastic grille a little.had that van a good long time.apparently deer breed in early november at 2 in the morning in Virginia
contrary to popular belief, taxes are not the spawn of satan, devised by the gov't to steal $$$ away from hardworking folk. if the gov't wants to do anything at all, it needs $$$ & the only way to get it is thru taxation. public education, interstate highways, etc...all funded by taxes. the problem is that most people view taxes as an unnecessary evil, leading the politicians they elect to do things like promise more benefits & lower taxes. it's an untenable situation. in the state of nj, they have been raiding pension funds &/or not paying their share, while the workers who are contractually (& thus legally) entitled to them upon retirement pay into those pension funds year after year. & then christie comes along & has the gall to insinuate that unionized public workers (including teachers) don't pay into their pensions or for healthcare. i do both. i pay (paid) for my healthcare via $$$ that came out of my paycheck, just like everyone else who works private sector. now i may more, above & beyond what the private sector pays. if christie REALLY wanted to change the way things are run in the state, some cuts would have to be made, yes. but he would also have to do things like require the state to not raid pension & retirement funds to pay for other things.
