Dudes, I broke my funboard yesterday. I found out the fastest anyone can repair it is 3 to 4 days and by then I will already be out of town on vacation. I won't have a floaty board to catch waves enough to practice standing up. I need a beater board to buy from someone here that is close to Princeton NJ before this Thursday. I have that shortboard but no way close to even popping up on that one. I need an egg!!! PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks G
i saw someone break their board yesterday, what beach did you break it at? maybe I had a gruvi sighting
Yo GruvDudes- I will share a secret with you- (just don't tell any one tho- its a secret)- if you get a ding and need to fix it asap- you can use a vinyl sticker or tape to cover up the ding so the water will not get to the ding thus not soaking into the foam. So- take nice big bumper sticker and stick it over the whole area where your fcs fin plug came out- make sure you clean the fiberglass well (no wax) so the sticker sticks well. Use a 'cool' sticker too- if don't have one, just ask some of the other guys, they might have one for you. Check it after each sess to make sure no water leaked in. and since your just learning- you can probably just surf the board with two fins- it will just be squirrly... I checked out the pics of your board- its not bad at all, easy fix. Plus it looks like there may be no foam showing and no cracks that water can get to the foam??? then you don't have to worry all- get back in the water!!! Just keep on posting dude- don't worry about getting banned or anything- just keep posting! PS- you can have the pizza delivered!
my exact reasoning why you should have gotten a cheap used or foam board before you go out and buy a fancy custom board. Hope it wasn't your "brand new awsomely shaped custom board". But at the same time, if it was, maybe you learned your lesson.
Wow, that's an entitled post huh? No it was not my custom. It is a board I expected wear to but it broke. Anyway I found a couple good priced boards for sale. One is a bonzer thruster and the other a single fin 6'9 something special. If anyone still reads this with a water tight egg shaped under 7' to sell please let me know? thanks, G
"he shred so bad he bust his stick" Sorry for your misfortune. Check this thread one of those shops might be able to help you out.
Thanks Capt. I'm going to have it repaired while I'm in Va. I wanted to have a thick rail board to use when I get there this Thursday and an egg with width 7' or shorter is what I want. I'm eyeballing a single fin egg now but seller is being difficult with getting together to close the deal. He offered it to me for $185. I told him I would pick up and he can't make a schedule to meet me during day and told me I should just go into work late. Then I asked if he would deliver to my work and he said "Yeah, for $225" and after I told him to do that he isn't following up on his end after he offered, and so far he really seems disinterested to make cash. So that is where I am now. If someone here has a tight egg shape board and can meet for cash in hand, I hope you read this
You might be able to rent a board at one of those shops for a week for much less. Why not call and ask? Please tell us how your broke your board.
lmao @you I doubt you got "pitted", not on this coast, not yesterday. AND you definitely didn't encounter any board crushing lips. You should have made up a cooler story like you were shooting the pier or you bludgeoned your girlfriend with it. This "gruvi" is getting under my skin. He may be foreign, or a child, or be the rainman, but I dont know... Can we take away his new thread privileges? Is that possible?
Captain Gruvi dude, Take it from another 40+ surfer who learned how to surf well into adulthood... get a long board... at least 23" wide and at least 3" thick, preferably used... if you get a new board you are going to ruin it with your knees (a multitude of dings). Ride it for a year and then think about your fun boards or eggs or custom boards. More flotation = more waves for Captain Gruvi, straight up = the faster you learn how to surf.
OH MY GOD GRUVI. your so annoying dude. im sorry, but its killing the vibe of the forum. why in earth did you need to tell us this in the 1st place? over it.
he was referring to the youtube video where the guy is freaking out about getting pitted on some news report
what the hell is "pitted"? and the only way anyone would break a board with recent midatlantic waves lately would be a pearl on a very late takeoff!
