yewwww that john john heat was sick. tanner gaudakus got the heaviest 4 pt heat score ever i love watching the brazillians **** their pants in the meaty stuff excited for the kelly heat tomorrow most likely
i really hope slater keeps commentating. he drops the best little story nuggets. "todd holland got the best wipe out here ever in like 88'" whattttt?
Yeah same here. And what's up with him talking about bodysurfing so much? Is he gonna give up boards for good after he retires from the tour?
he's always been about body surfing. he and mark cunnigham are super tight. keith malloy just did that whole docu on body surfing so maybe that's his next step besides the wave technology stuff
occy egan and dorian were good too it looked so challenging out there. so many low heat totals that were winners. the brazillians continued to look dopey in the big stuff. they went pretty hard (see jadson andre) but overal mehh. excited to see gabriel in in solid 8-10' pipe tomorrow. parko has the first heat should kick off around 1pm eastern
That's the secret Slater plan with riding all these short boards. Soon the board will disappear altogether! Great to see these guys scoring big-time. The Pipe Masters should be contested in PIPELINE, not 4 ft dribble.
A little surprised/disappointed in JOB....considering it's his backyard. That guy can surf Pipe in any conditions. Although, he still won his heat. It will be interesting to see what he does today....also, looking forward to see what KS brings to the table.
how are you surprised at JOB??? it was 12-15' and shifting all over the place. there were two huge washout sets during his second heat. he had a few quotes in surflines article basically saying he was pretty scared/excited and was trying to survive more then dominate. watch him today and tomorrow when it's not VAS and you'll see.
yesterday was nuts. Ive got my money on John John. That Markus Hickman put on a clinic in his heats though too
I'm surprised because like I already stated.....It's his backyard. He knows pipe better then anyone in the heat. He has proven to surf ANY conditions Pipe throws at him and has. Even the announcers were wondering what was going on. 12'-15' pipe has been the best conditions in a while. And, the best for the contest. Yes, scary.... But JOB has surfed Pipe much gnarlier. So, he wasn't himself yesterday. The real JOB didn't show up. He only caught one wave...that's not him. Like one of the announcers stated...there could be 70+ people in the lineup and JOB would get his waves. Not just because he's JOB, but because he knows where to be and when. He was lucky to not get beat out. Hopefully, today he will show the world why he is the BEST hands down surfer at Pipe. With conditions similar to yesterday it should be epic again.
I thought JOB did pretty well in his first heat, found a good one right off the bat. He was definitely humbled a little bit in his second, though.
