Long Island certianly was NOT ankle high today. Got covered up in a few nice barrels today.... close outs but def. not ankle high!!! lol. I would actually put some of the waves today at chest to just under head high on a few.... and super glassy for a good while too.

I notice that a lot of the times the conditions improve then forecast gets updated and shows the improved conditions (like at 6pm after all the surfing happened)

This comment is as useless as the first comment in this thread.

I'm actually curious to hear what the cause of the missed forecast is. It was not just kinda missed. It was just horribly missed. I live on the beach so I just look out the window... But maybe things could help improve the service here.

Inconsistent borderline rideable closeouts and sideshore wind when/where I checked it... I passed. Might have been something working somewhere, but it just wasn't callin' me.

I know it’s free, I could try to forecast myself, and I don’t have to look at it but Swell Info, Surfline, and MSW completely missed this swell (2/4-2/6). Of the three, Swell Info is the most accurate in my opinion. Swell Info does a great job and I will continue to use the site, but out of curiosity; what happened?
Sat 2/4 buoy 2.6@13 ENE, was inconsistent waist to chest and fun/clean all day.
Sun 2/5 buoy 3.6@14 ESE, was solid chest to head fun/little bumpy.
Mon 2/6 buoy 3@12 E, Still at least waist high/clean. I’m contemplating surfing for the 3rd day in a row.
The forecast was for 2ft wind swell at best for all three days (again, I know it’s a fluid science and not easy). I guess my biggest question is, if all the buoys off the northeast coast are showing solid background swell and your forecast is saying flat, why not do some damage control on the next forecast update and correct it? I would personally take a peek at the buoys in a particular forecast area (or get software to do it) before I told everyone it was flat and going to stay flat.
Clearly the old fashioned surf check still has its place.

saw it right before dark, it was waist hi and clean... should have checked it earlier... my own fault for not taking a visual, not at all blaming swellinfo- which is the BEST!
