jesus guys, if you don't remember, we're in the united states, most of the time, people are gonna do what they wanna do. yes, the lawsuits thing is stupid but now that this country is built on double standards and fighting things out with litigation instead of fists, deal with iit. *****ing on surf forums ain't gonna do a thing and it's not going to change unless something drastic happens. But isn't that the whole freedom aspect of it? anyway, everybody needs to stop *****ing about everything here. unless you're homeless, have no money, food, clean water, and everything else that we americans take for granted, then shut up. there are a lot of people in the world who have nothing. they would probably also kill you for a chance too. just be humble, respectful, and courteous to your fellow humans and everything will usually work its self out. as kyle said, just let it go. i dunno my opinion though.

Yes, I do play golf also, one of the many benefits of Florida, I can play almost everyday. However, this has nothing to do with what I'm talking about. Obviously you don't get it...threatening someone to the point they feel the need to bring in police over surfing is the act of an irrational person. I like surfing, no I love it, but I don't love it like I do freedom, my family, or myself i.e. enough to fight for. Guy like you, pumpmaster, need to realize that it's is a YOU problem. Yes in the rare occasion when someone does something to risk injury to another and has the disrespect not to listen to verbal warnings or call-outs is a problem, but like I said, don't act like this happens everyday.

So a guy you've never seen in your local lineup snakes you badly then doesn't want to hear it, I get that, it's frustrating, but you would fight someone over this? That is like saying you would fight someone for skipping you in a line or stealing a parking spot from you, and for some of you you're like "well I would fight someone over those things" and that's fine. But please be aware of your knuckle-dragging mentality and understand if you approach someone the right way, you will more often then not get the result you want.

I've been in a lot of lineups and I don't think I've ever seen some almost injure or drop-in on someone, and not be addressed verbally by the crowd and problem solved; however, I have seen a lot of guys eager to paddle over start **** with someone before even addressing them verbally, that's the problem.

You guys are so eager to fight, which is fine if that's how you want to be, just don't be self-righteous about it.

Yes, we are otherwise know as "The Crowd with Common Sense."

And please Lee, this is no reason to leave, Flying Eye is exactly the type of guy your post supports. The over aggressive male with a chip on his shoulder. Don't let an example of your "rebellious front against society" be the straw that broke the camel's back.

who said anything about fighting? do you know how to read and comprehend what you've read? there are extreme cases when fighting might be warranted, but if you anything about surfing, you should know that offenders can be removed from the lineup in lots of ways that don't involve punches. call me the problem but I fanatically observe the rules of etiquette wherever I surf.

You still don't get it at all. must be the golf influence. This whole thread is really about learning to surf in a respectful manner without expecting anyone to fall all over themselves to help you. PERIOD. Those who say 'hate' and all that sh!t seem to be the people who expect the world to revolve around them instead of working hard to learn and get better with in the rules of the game.

Must be the stress of the impending EC summer season. I remember when I was younger looking forward to summer as my favorite season and then later just dreading it.
traffic jams, crowds, kooks, parking meters, dangerous drivers, et cetera, ad nauseum
    blech.

assuming that the people using this forum are a true microcosm of the actual surf community is flat out idiotic. most of the surfers i know dont even use swellinfo, much less read and then post onto the forums.

if so everyone in the lineup would be talking sh!t, fighting, and repetitively quitting the sport in dramatic fashion

And how are these people supposed to learn this "etiquette" is guys like you don't want to help them out. So you're trying to tell me people are calling the cop because you're trying to "tell" them to watch it or move down the line...yeah right.

I get it fine, this post isn't about not having to help someone learn to surf, it's about a bunch of assholes who want to ***** cause they don't want to share or be civilized, or forgot how much of a little **** grom they were in their youth. If it was just about learning the ropes yourself, then wtf are you bringing up leashes for? Because you don't want to wear one cause you think it's cool and you want to ***** about everyone else wearing one.

You just want to be contrarian to be contrarian, and it's obvious.

If it's just about learning for yourself and not expecting everyone else to help you, then why is he taking shots at "athletes?" God forbid these people get smart and try and get rid of the slacker surfer stereotype. These people realize that it is good for surfing as a whole, see cause they truly care about surfing and want it to be understood and respected by everyone. They don't want to keep everyone else out of the water so they can have it all for themselves i.e. gentlemen with your line of thought.

Pumpmaster, don't try and back off and say this is about "not expecting everyone to help you." That's a cop-out, this post is hardly just "pointing out the entitlement of kooks," do you morons see the entitlement in what you're saying. About not wearing a leash and *****ing about it when it's common sense like wearing a damn seat belt. Or about *****ing how surfing is progressing more to a sport and not a counter-culture hobby as it began. You guys just need to relax, let everyone surf, and realize no one is scoring the waves you just got snaked on, there's no Surfline photog out there, so just let it go, and rip the next one!

Exactly, animalistic immaturity. So now surfing is like gangs, don't get caught on someone else's turf? Unless you live on a world-class break, and I don't know of too many up the East Coast, then shut up, you guys aren't any better than anyone else just cause you've surfed the same spot for years. So I get penalized cause I've lived and surfed all over the country instead of staying in the same place "falling in my own pack."

Ok, well I'm glad everyone doesn't view surfing like this, I don't want to go back to the high school, you can't sit at this table, mentality. Takes a big man, to tell some new person to get the F%ck out of the way with a "pack of buddies" behind him. You local townie surfers make me sad, travel a little and maybe you'll realize you're just a small fish in an even smaller pond.

It's not like showing up to the Pagans MC with a Vespa, it's more like a kid showing up at the court for a pick-up bball game and you telling him to go **** himself cause he's not as good as you or doesn't know your "pack of buddies"...Chilidish.

If I had started reading Swell Info Forums before I started surfing, I would have stuck to raping and pillaging. It's lot safer and I ran with a nicer crowd. Seriously, I've never seen anything as agro in a line-up as this messed up sh!t.

Hey. I just got back to the office after taking a 'liquid lunch' catching a few in OCMD. I'm feeling no angst at all. Maybe you all ought to go out and catch a few--you sound like you reeeeeaaally need to.
