Duuuude! Not a Trayvon thread! A kid died... its sad either way. On the real though why do people always say this: like 911 dispatcher are police officers or have an authority at all other than offer suggestions and to dispatch emergency services.
overheard the other day in the grocery store parking lot 'you better back off or I will trayvon your ass'
i really hope you're joking about this. if not, wow. must suck to live with so much fear and rage. seriously bro, don't stab anyone over surfing. no one is going to kill you.
I think its funny that most of the people on this website are far inland, thus don't understand it completely. if you refer back to a thread, how far do you drive to the beach, you will see probably 85% of the people are around 45 mins to 3 hours away. more than likely the people disagreeing are the ones getting yelled at all the time by locals.
and then there was al sharpton with his racial speech. al sharpton always speaks his mind on topics like this acting like he knows everything about the case. you really think the police department releases all the information on the case to al sharpton? that guy is a clown. he's racist against white people.
Summer surfers can be a misinterpetation............I know many LOCALS that never surf in the winter. They're excellent surfers, they just dont like the cold....I do see where you're coming from though. Most all the tourans only surf in the summer. Yes.......I surf all year round.
interesting. I would think in NC the cold wouldn't be a huge issue. Do they travel a lot? I know a lot of old heads who hit the tropics over winter.
hahaha love that clip there! I actually know some dudes like that, they are a blast to be with in the lineup!! ..and a blast to go back to their pad and blaze a fatty of homegrown!
We do get cold winters here.....not always and of course not like up North. Water temps usually in the low to mid 40's (SOBX) during winter months (low30's at OBX) but when your summer water is mid 80's.......well you see where I'm coming from and yes especially in Jan-Feb there is alot of travel to PR, CR and Nica from people around here.
It's not NE cold but 40's water temp and air temps in the 30's is still cold and something about the climate really does effect your tolerance for cold. "Thinning your blood"- It's amazing how cold 40-50 feels when you're not used to it anymore. Lot's of guys just don't think it's worth it once the 3/2 needs to be replaced with a 4/3, boots glove and hood- all that gear cost enough to fly to PR or CR and you can pack a lot of waves into one of those trips.
ten years ago I heard an older guy mention what he called the 100 degree rule: if the air and water temp didn't add up to 100 it was too cold. Of course at the time I thought he was old and soft- now: "not so much" (in best Borat voice) After almost 20 years in the South East when it gets in below fifty outside and I consider it bitter cold it amazes me that growing up in NY I was outside all day playing and walking to school when it was in the thirties and below.
25 years in Central NY 5 years In Western NY, 17 years in NC. I put a wet suit on and surf when a lot of older surfers don't. Not because I'm hard and tough; I'm still learning and I want to log in hours and lose a "self imposed kook" status.
I have my own rule; its called the good surf rule. Here it is (my secret), if there's good surf I go out no matter what.
Because you were there and personally saw the whole thing go down right? Did you notify ABC before you tried to stop it?
