I want to get a new board, but I want something that is really easy to paddle. I don't really want a longboard. I was something that has some performance but I can catch almost every wave I go for on it. I am 5'11" and I weigh about 140. I surf wildwood so we get about 2-4 footers. I was looking at a short board. It was about 6'8"x2.67x20. What about fishes? And stuff like that
What kind of board do you surf now? Just looking at the dimensions and not taking your skill level into account I would say that board is way too big for you. I would suggest looking into fishes or wider/shorter shortboards around 5'8" to 5'10". Again this is just based on your height and weight, if you're still somewhat of a beginner surfer than you should definitely size up over 6'.
I've been surfing for about 2 years and I am out there once a week. I would consider my self intermediate. I ride a 6'0x18x2 1/8 shortboard and it a pain to get waves on.
at 5'11 x 140 you 6'8 x 20 x 2 5/8 is huge. shortboards are very dependent on outline, but go with a shorter wider board, 5'5-5'8 x 20-21" x 2 3/8-2 1/2 somewhere in that spectrum. nice wide outline plenty of float.
Price range is nothing over 350. I'm 13. I don't have a job and I'm growin quick so I don't wanna spend a lot
That shortboard you were looking at seems like an awful choice. Those dims would place it as a good wave board for someone my size (220lbs). You'll catch waves on it, but it will be corky, won't turn, and just all wrong for you. If you're looking for something to catch waves easy and get you going in weak conditions, get an outline made for those conditions, but in your size. follow a2tall's advice. Something fishy (ie stubby wider fuller outline). Should be shorter than your shortboard, but also wider, wider tail, less rocker fuller nose etc... At your budget, eye craigslist and used board racks for fish type outlines in the mid 5' range. Plenty of used retro fish shapes always popping up. my 2 cents for what its worth. .
