Any reviews on this thing?? A surfshops offering me a great deal on it ($550). The one he's got is a 6'0. I'm looking for a summer time board. Looks like its a great board, but I'm just a little concerned that it will be a little too big for me. I currently ride a 6'2 shortboard. Hows this board ride, and do you think that it will be responsive as a 6'0? My specs are 5'11 and 195lbs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as always. :) Thanks

Yea... it's a bit big for you. But you could ride it. I've ridden a few knock-offs and they're a lot of fun. I'm about your weight, but probably twice your age, and I rode a 6'0 no problem.

I had a 5'10" x 20x 2.5 POD . I'm 6'1" 190lb . Size was about right .Very fun board . Good for summer on the EC. @ 6' you'll lose a little responsiveness , but you will catch alot of waves + that's a good price... I sold mine to a bud,,,he rides it in all conditions.

    good luck ~

I'm 5'10, 185, and have ridden a friend's 6-2 Pod. Very fun board, but way too much foam for me. Catches waves easily, and the Quad option is great. With your size, you could get away with a 5-10, but for small waves (and at that price), the 6-0 will be fine.

My 5'8" POD is my go to board in my quiver. So responsive! You def want it to be 4-6" shorter than your regular board. This board allows me to compete for waves with the long boarders at Assateague. Great price go for it.

I'm 5'9" 185, my 6'0" quad pod is pretty much exclusively what i've been riding for the last almost 2 yrs now; love this board. $550 is a bargain.

"responsive" is subjective. This POD is going to have a LOT more volume than your 6'2" shortboard (assuming you mean a regular performance shortboard). Its carrying a whole lot of foam you dont need which will make is less responsive than it should be. How thick is a stock 6'0" pod? Like 2 1/2" maybe even 2 5/8"

The reason they say 4" - 6" shorter is because you really WANT it shorter.

Spending $550 on a board that isnt quite right is no deal at all. If your riding a 6'2" shorty i'd say a 5'8" - 5'10" Pod would make more sense. I'd pass.

Thanks for all the advice guys! I don't think I'm gonna buy it. I'm too worried it will be too big now. But if you don't mind answering a few more questions I'd appreciate it :). Does a 650$ board normally turn into 750$ after tax?? And if I go all out and pay 650$ for a CI board, what should I expect as a courtesy from the shop?? Free traction pad, or free finsss?? Or is that too much to expect??

if your in jersey/local area and want a local shaper i'd go with arc.. - http://www.arcsurfboards.com/

Shop wont hook you up with a pad, it might come with fins. If you went with a local like arc, you'd be so much better off then spending 650 on a generic channel islands

shop here gives you a free pad ,,, final $$$ will depend on tax % and any discounts you may get ... go local or tom neilson down in cocoa beach will make you his "flyin' floaty fish" for around 500...looks kinda pod-like to me .

    ~ good luck

cool dude... Well, I've got some fireworks in the garage at home.. So i figure I'll go home and strap a rocket to my ass, light the fuse, and (pending air-traffic) I'll be in Cocoa Beach by morning... Thanks for the tip :)

Hey , whatever you like to strap to your ass is your trip . People do ship boards and take road trips ,just sayin' . Proctologist bill aside , you'd still come out ahead with what CI charges.
