I'm just venting right now but I'm sure that there are other surfers in the VB area that surf in Sandbridge that feel the same way.

I'm pissed about all the paved beach access walk things they are putting everywhere! They started it at Tuna but now they are adding them to the market and even at S-Turns. Its the beach, you are supposed to walk on the sand at the beach, why add sidewalks? I don't get it. I just dont want to see SB turn into the oceanfront. Its starting to get way too developed and tourist friendly.

Here's an idea for them: Give the residents their fcking tax money back!

All homeowners pay extra for things like sand replenishment, road rebuilding after storms, etc. Now they'll have to have someone to clear sand from the paved paths so some touron doesn't get his aqua socks sandy. And, it'll be a city employee who will do nothing unless there is also a supervisor on the clock making sure things get done.

I predict they'll be either sitting under 2' of sand or sticking up 2' out of the sand with jagged edges by next summer.

On another note, the side street parking has blessed the residents with piles of trash and a pretty regular supply of brown trout since there are no public restrooms for miles.

Man...I remember like 20 years ago when sandbridge had a big metal wall half falling into the ocean along with many of the houses and driveways. It was ugly as hell, and sure wasnt what you'd call tourist friendly but the surf was a lot better back then...crazy how as tore up as it was, and completely devoid of sand, it still broke better than after beachfill.

I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to turn sb into another oceanfront

Obviously we need to scare the tourists and developers out and make it a surf haven. I suggest we go Blazing Saddles on them. Perhaps this will save the beach. That or go with the fake town method.

There are plenty of horses at our disposal in Pungo for this operation. We have the plan, do we have the people?

I'm surprised they havent tried putting a huge-ass hotel down there. Whole city is run by developers so it's a matter of time...

    Nice

What false shark reports? I thought those were real last year :O...I don't think paved walkways is anything to get worked up over...but agree maybe they are pandering to tourists plus its unnatural, but it's still less crowded than further north..

What about that shooting 2 months ago at that house party @ Sandbridge, that just screamed oceanfront. Maybe they'll extend the lightrail to the Oceanfront, and Sandbridge.

yeah exactly, perfect example of sandbridge resembling the oceanfront. Used to never have to worry about stuff like that. I also never worried about people stealing or breaking into cars down there but one of my friends left his car unlocked and had his surfboard stolen from his car.

The best way to have a say in any community or city is to get involved in the organizations like the civic league. I am involved in several community organizations and I can tell you that the business owners in Sandbridge will never allow SB to become the oceanfront resort area. I have been involved in some meetings discussing these concerns and that is the polar opposite from what business owners/residents of Sandbridge want for their perfect little corner of the universe. While VB is run by a lot of developers, SB is a different story. SB is lucky to have the very active civic minded residents that they do; just as long as the younger generations maintain the work the older and wiser generations have put into preserving the community Sandbridge will remain a haven from the chaos of tourism. Get active, get involved... protect your beach!

Awesome, im glad to hear that. I might just have to be apart of the younger generation who carrys on the preservation of SB that the older generations have kept going.
