Life's big decisions, not talking about the midwest but maybe 5-6 hours inland what would you do?

Well I'm young, have never loved anything as much as the ocean, but don't want to lose something that might not come again...

For "a girl" or for "the girl"?

    Doubt means don't.

Think about it......If you move there just for her, then it put a heavy pressure on her to be "worth it". You have to "man-up"/"women-up"/"human-up" to the choice.

So you tell me......is she/you and the potential "we" worth it?

I moved inland for a girl. Wound up marrying her. That was 17 years and 2 kids ago. Jury is still out on whether I made the right decision. :)

Gonna need a pic of the two of you. She may be ugly, but if you're ugly too, it'll be a good match.

    HAHAHA! Nice.

Well young dude, 5-6 hours away from the ocean sure puts a cramp in your surf style. That will make it hard to surf even on the weekends. If she is "the one" and you move inland to mountains (so you can snowboard), then it could be worth it. I am not so young, and have had several girlfriends that I thought could be that special girl that didn't work out. Whatever you decide DO NOT RUSH IN! Take your time and think it out. Maybe even go long distance relationship style for a few months and see how you feel. Moving in with a chick is a game changer. Make SURE you are ready.

Personally, I would choose the ocean over the girl. Choose surfing with Bros before moving in with H**s :) (kidding)

There is more to life then surfing, hard to believe but true. I moved 1.5 hrs from the beach and found mountain biking, not the same but keeps you fit (fitter than surfing on East Coast) and there is also kayaking and snowboarding. Besides being sure she is worth it be sure you can find good work so you can afford to make those occasional trips to the beach and find another fix besides surfing.

A buddy of mine once said "girls are for beats til' you get where ya need to be"

    Or...read my rant

It's your life, however, works slow so here I go. I thought I had the girl. I lived 2 hours from the coast and moved to the water. We had dated for a while, I got a house and we've split. She didn't get any of my stuff, but in the meantime I took up surfing (despite its not a great surfing beach). I wouldn't give up surfing. I skateboarded inland all the time. Surf dude. It'll literally save your tailbone. Injuries I sustained from skating do not hurt any more. A wave is a liquid mini ramp and you can skate at the beach (in more ways than one). More choices. As for girls, I would recommend she move to the coast. You will know if she is "the girl" if the beach does not corrupt her. Just saying. Life is full of tests. She wants to test you? No sir! Test her! Go Neanderthal and drag her by the hair to live at the beach if you truly care for her. Only if you move to the mountains where you can snowboard will it be worth it. Nothing beats the water IMO.

what tommy said it true. anything over 3 hours would be out of the question. relationships are a two-way street and she needs to understand your surfing passion.

the real question is would she move to the ocean for you... if no... then no. There is no shortage of hot chicks or a-hole dudes... really all you gotta do is be sightly less of an a-hole to land a good one...hell with all the fat arses that sit on the couch or in cubicles all day...you don't even have to be that good looking anymore .. just surfing you're already fitness guru compared to most dudes.

Bro, do yourself a favor and find a girl that would never want to take you away from what you love...stick with the ocean. Believe me there are soooo many girls out there that will feel like the "one"

I did it. Moved 6 hours from the beach, for about 6 years. Then i got a good job and we moved back. Now I am about an hour and a half away. She was definately worth it! But thats my story, not yours.

If you need to ask on an internet forum then, no. If she was worth it you wouldn't be questioning your decision.
