So are the great lakes gonna get some surf out of Isaac???

not that it really impacts us on the east coast at all... just curious.

I grew up in Erie, PA and Lake Erie definitely has surfable waves. I was up there a couple weeks ago visiting family and it looked pretty fun - waist high and semi clean. The big low pressure systems that move across the lake and the lake effect winter storms bring the best waves. Issac will probably die out by the time its remnants move up there but you never know, forecasting great lake swells is a whole different animal haha.

Agree...more video evidence that the Great Lakes (at least Erie) really dont have any waves. I know they actually do, so i'm thinking videos like this, the Sheyboygan one posted a while back, and the countless others are just a really solid long-term campaign on the part of Great Lake surfers to throw anyone and everyone off.

lol- i was just out in Michigan this past weekend for a friends wedding and my wife and i stayed at a private lake house. I got there- and looked out at the lake- the thing looked just like the ocean, sand... beach.... and waves!!! It was about knee to almost waist hi- peeling! no board tho... although I did find a 'sit in' kayak at the place we where staying- but quickly filled with water and sank lol then i also noticed a hobie cat sailboat beached in a sand dune- same boat i have- and was wondering where the owner was. Really wanted to take it out- upon further inspection i saw an old school longboard stashed under the hobie cat... so.... i took it out lol no wax- and rode lake Michigan! It was epic- just the novelty of it all. bought some wax at a local shop for the next day... the water is so clear and clean- feels like you just got a shower when you get out!
I really never believed there where waves out there... but now im a believer!

I have never surfed Lake Erie myself or can say the waves look good, but they are definitely surfable. Kind of a novelty thing to me as well but I plan on bringing a board up next time I go to visit my family and maybe give it a go.

Here's a couple pics from Lake Erie this summer.
