Hey guys, I am heading out sunday in OCNJ and i was looking at all the forecasts and it seems everyones different.. swell info is saying 2-4ft all day. MSW is saying 5ish and surfline 6-8+.. if anyone could give me some information as to why each forecast is different it would be much appreciated thanks.
IMHO, Swellinfo is the best at predicting swells on the east coast in "normal" circumstances but for Leslie, I like what Surfline has been putting out there in terms of accuracy. Also, keep in mind that your "normal" break may not be as good for bigger swells. I surfed at a place yesterday that was typically average but really held up well with the waves that Leslie is churning out.
supposedly 7th and 8th are rumored to work best with hurricanes so swellinfo is predicting 2-4ft more north and surfline is saying 7th and 8th will be alot bigger.. just what ive heard.. i reallly dont care i am going out either just just wanted to hear your guys thoughts
7th & 8th both suck...actually, oc has sucked entirely on this swell. mile long closeouts up & down the island. seek elsewhere.
to my understanding the real meat of the swell is supposed to hit sunday, with the change in winds could possibly make for perfect conditions?.. possibles
nah...we had such small waves for such a long stretch this summer that the bars here are all wonky & out of whack. maybe this swell will stir **** up in time for the next one (whenever that is), but like i said, it's just mile long closeouts all over the place. ocnj is NOT the place to be for this swell.
south end of VB oceanfront has been the same unless you want to join the mayhem at 1st street and the pier. I've gotta hop in the truck today and search for something, anything, with some sort of peak. Best luck i've had has been to cruise the beach looking for good rip currents and surfing the edges of those. They're happening in the deeper spots so usually it doesn't closeout as bad. Thank you Leslie...it's almost like you've become a friendly neighbor...but i've got my speed pumps down now...how about a wave or 2 with a shoulder...i wanna smack some lips...please????
