Wow, I was out there today ... didn't realize they had locked the lot! By the time I left, the gate was open and the officer you mentioned was just waving us over and giving us a scolding, letting us know next time we're going to all get towed for not reading the sign. I had no clue the lot closed at 5:30 ... I always surf at 1st, the north-end, or Sandbridge, but Croatan looked so good on Surfline today, I just had to go out. My first paddle-out in a hurricane!
Good on ya 757 & Superfish for gett'n some... Talked to a two VB friends that were being wusses and were waiting it out... although in their defense I think it was quite a but bigger in the AM... I'm no Laird but what ever happened to paddling out through Rudee Inlet when it gets gnarly? No one does it anymore? O well I wanted someone to get sump'n before it drops to waist high tomorrow...ugh... I swear VB is the ball sack of the east coast for waves
Sick! i hope you got some good ones man. i sure did. Yea i knew they would close the gate but not with so many people there. i wish i hadnt broken my watch last week. i wouldnt have had to worry about it. ^^That picture of Raven Lundy... S!@#$T!!!!!!!! THAT IS SICKKKK
Yea i looked in the morning but it wasnt really makeable. waited till the afternoon and scored pretty good. and yea VB always gets screwed haha. lucky you stranded got some sick ones in NORFLA. got any pics?
I took that photo with my cell phone of a photo on my Canon SLR. It was on Instagram for ten minutes and now it's all over the Internet, Facebook, and WBOC News
that's awesome to hear. Let us know where the real photo ends up. Can't wait to see it in high quality.
Yup, I had quite an exhilarating time ... although I still do feel a bit jealous when I watch the Surfline cam of Cocoa Beach ... such a clean swell and warm, sunny conditions. Should have taken a road-trip to Florida over the weekend and called in sick today BTW, at around 1PM, I saw some guys doing tow-ins at 5th street ... That was something I wasn't expecting to see! It was kinda funny when the ski got stuck on the inside too
dealing with all that paddling and heavy slams (don't say you didn't get worked), I'm guessing most of you are, or will be, feeling like you've been hit by a bus...several times.
Fire Island hit hard, possible breaches, beach houses collapse people trapped on fire island. Tomorrow is not looking good for New York/ NJ going to be a long clean up.
no sack of balls today i assure you. surfed it with one homie...epic throaty screaming barrels, the bar at my spot was WORKING.. wind was outrageously annoying... plenty of gems no doubt though Also, IS THIS REAL?! SHARKS SWIMMING IN THE STREETS http://www2.wbtw.com/news/2012/oct/...icane-sandy-shark-front-yard-wave-ar-4851965/
http://www.app.com/viewart/20121030/NJNEWS/310300021/casino-pier-damaged-seaside?odyssey=mod|newswell|text||p I am from Ocean County, but live further inland now... I wish I could be there to help. My friends and family are reporting major flooding, not much I can do. I can't believe how hard they were hit.
Chris Christie is supposed to visit there some time today. Not sure when. I'm sure they'll have reporters following him so we may be able to get a glimpse of the damage.
