Damn these N winds are never ending! there's swell in the water but its so junky its pretty much unrideable. can we just get a little west please??? wish i could go to a south facing beach but the roads are either washed out, destroyed, or my clunker car cant get to them...

Shhh... The southeast loves the N wind! The only bad side is the water temp will drop 5+ degrees in the next 7 days. We went from boardshorts to 4/3 suits in 2 weeks!!

Eh, I was still in a spring suit a week ago. However, I don't think I can brave it tonight. Water temps dipped into the upper 50's and the air temp isn't much better. Time for a sealed 3/2.

I hear ya man, F the north winds. Every November I have this 2-3 week spell when I probably just surf once or twice the whole span.

Part of it is junky conditions and part is still mentally transitioning to cold water surfing and wearing the winter gear

there are two guys out at first street right now. How bad do you want it? Personally, I'll just crack a cold one and watch the triple crown

Us here on LI love this north wind... what's causing it to blow so steadily north anyway? This never happens.

I'm pretty sure its an arctic low pressure system that came down from Newfoundland/nova Scotia area and it's just been sitting here. Thats what's hopefully keep that coastal storm they have been talking about away from the coast. we don't need anymore rain anywhere on the EC.

North wind your my dear friend. Line them up as the air grows cold and thin. Ill be there covered up like a big bear. When the Canadians come please be kind and stay, scorned as you may. Please blow all the hardship from this year from our brothers south of here. A prayer is spoken for every wave that gets broken from your howling might. May your season be not too cold, and be bright.

I hear all of you ... same thing, I look at the surf-cam at 1st street and Croatan (as well as the lack of people in the water) and just go "bleh" ... The sad thing is I just bought an new 6'2" thruster off Craigslist for cheap, and I really want tot take it for a ride in some good swell!

E>N>W>S winds in order. W is awesome for is offshore and all, but its a swell killer and offshore thigh high waves are not fun. thigh high N or E wind is though. At least living in Jersey I get stoked out, especially in the summer, when a N wind blows since it brings in warm water, cleaner water, and usually a little wave. I love surfing straight onshore surf. Its fun, water warms, I just like it ok! W=clean yet the size will drop. SOUTH WINDS CAN GO TO HELL!!!

Glassy waves everyday out at rockaway sine the storm past and not one person paddling out. I have not been able to find any info on water safety at the moment. has anyone surfed on rockaway since the storm? Not that I'm going in anytime soon, but I'd like to know if it's safe topaddle out. Also there must be a huge debri field in the surf zone...
