Its sad that ive been surfing for about 10 years now and only know when the swell comes in a week before it hits. Ive been wanting for some time now to understand forecasting and be able to forecast myself so info would be awesome.

You're looking to forecast past a week? Anything more then 2-3 days wouldn't be that accurate even if you were the best meteorologist in the world. 4-5 days the most

I don't really pay attention to any prediction past 48 hrs.

haha my bad, I didnt mean i could forecast at all, the only way i can tell at all is thru swellinfo's forecast or surfline's. What i really want to do is learn to forecast for myself

Grow your hair out long, stop shaving, stop showering. Drink out of puddles and only eat what you kill. Soon you'll be one with nature and you'll know when there will be waves. Otherwise be like the rest of us and take advantage of fronts as they pass and be ready for hurricane season.
