Pretty good interview with Greg Webber--the other side of the wave pool movement. Seems he is further along in developing a workable business plan than what we have heard from KS Wave Co. to date. I think something like this would be pretty freaking sweet in the US! http://www.surfinglife.com.au/news/asl-news/7285-greg-webbers-wave-pool-plans
That's because so much money has to be put into to it...do you have millions of dollars to build it and see if it works? Wear the shoe of the investors, and you can see why it takes so long to go from concept to construction. At the very least, it's a step in the right direction. Everything can't happen "right now", but we have been spoiled so much in this country that your reaction has become the norm.
Based on the article, it seems Webber is getting close to figuring out a sellable economic model. What really caught my attention was towards the end of the article where Webber talks about this concept helping to spread out the lineups and loosen up the dense clusters folks tend to surf in in certain spots. He also alluded to this going hand in hand with artificial surfing reefs. I hope he's thinking about developing a business model that will incorporate AR's in the future.
Wow, I think this would be very cool, especially for flat spells and small wave areas like where I live. Would definately check it out!
