Best to extrapolate from generalized forecasts and apply local knowledge to your local breaks.
We try to avoid the idea that we are forecasting for specific spots. I know some other sites have forecasts specific to individual spots, but I'm not a fan of that approach.

I was being a wise *ss about the navel jetty. I'm not a fan of spot specific reports, my own spot or someone else's. if your familiar with an area you can take a single report and figure out pretty closely what's going on 10 miles north or south. Everybody wants it handed to them on a silver platter these days.

Agreed. Specific spot forecasting is not a good idea. I'm a big fan of keeping it broken down the way it is, maybe even lest specific by regional names instead of city names. (Like SouthJersey, Maryland Coast, Virginia Coast, ect...

As you get older you learn to take all the information available from buoy data, swell direction, swell interval, beach facing direction, current wind speed and direction, and tides. You put it all into your head and come up with a good idea of what its like and then you hope its gonna be good.
