Nicely put NJ and a lot of the problem here is that some of the mud slingers are uneducated when it comes to politics they just know "I'm a democrat" or "I'm republican" if they were truly edicated they'd be furious about what the puppet Obama and the other politicians are doing to this country. They are ALL running it in the ground. That is why I hoped so badly that Ron Paul would have been elected. The FED is killing this country. I'm a patriot and I love my constitution that Obama is slowly and surely destroying. Starting with the 1st and 2nd amendments. It's heart breaking to me and a slap in the face to our founding fathers and all those who have died for this country. So jump on me, call me what you will; however, like I said I'm a patriot and a Libertarian. If you think that's a bad thing I could give two sh*ts. All that being said I hope we can just agree to disagree. We need to put all that BS aside and remember the important thing here - we love the ocean and we love to surf. That is the cool bond we have. It makes us unique and brings us together. So lets shred some waves! F&*K politics!!!
I posted the full bill. What in the 2 paragraphs do you see as pork? If you're referencing another bill, please post a link to the source, or at least provide the bill number.
People don't read, they just support the decisions of whatever party they belong to. I don't care what party someone belongs to. Everyone should see the stupidity behind voting against the Sandy relief bill.
Dont be a monday morning quarterback.... I'm referring to the one the democrits tried to put through.... “"Democrats had expanded the legislation during a markup to include not only areas affected by Sandy, but also to provide money for all 'storm events that occurred in 2012 along the Gulf Coast and Atlantic Coast within the boundaries of the North Atlantic and Mississippi Valley divisions of the Corps that were affected by Hurricanes Sandy and Isaac.' This was done to get red state Republican senators from Alabama, Texas and Mississippi on board, old-fashion vote-buying." Examples of the billions slated to go other than those effected in New Jersey and Staten Island: •$28 billion for future "disaster-mitigation" projects. •$100 million for the repair of all 265 Head Start centers around the country. •$8 million (+) to buy cars and equipment for the Homeland Security and Justice departments. •$150 million for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to dole out to fisheries in Alaska. •$2 million for the Smithsonian Institution to repair museum roofs in Washington, D.C. •$207 million for the VA Manhattan Medical Center. •$41 million to fix up eight military bases along the storm's path, including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. •$4 million for repairs at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. •$3.3 million for the Plum Island Animal Disease Center of New York. •$1.1 million to repair national cemeteries.
Just looking for something other than hearsay. Even for what you just posted, you failed to provide the source. None of what you listed above was in the bill itself. The contents of that bill are what is voted for/against, not what was discussed during rounds of markup.
So what is the reasoning behind delaying the 9.7 billion in funding? You are only talking about one part of this whole thing. The $9.7billion plan had many republican vetoes (67 total). Again, stop reading one sided news sources and look at all the facts.
sorry fellas... that' the maximum I put into political discussion on a surfing forum. go look for reasons to feel good about being democrat elsewhere...
Again, I am not a democrat. I just get tired of everything being blamed on Obama, as is the common theme with hard core right wingers. This is just as annoying as everything being blamed on Bush. It's a big system of government. There are so many hard headed wastes of space voting for and against things, it is illogical to blame a single person. The hurricane relief was not delayed by Obama. There is also no reason for 67 republicans to still vote against the final bill. That is the problem with people who live by one party. You defend even the most ignorant actions these politicians make.
Another common assumption of the one-sided extremist. If you criticize their party, you are obviously part of the other side. The two party system is the biggest failure in this country. I hope it ends soon.
The smartest thing ever said in this dead horse of a thread..... Our country was never meant to have any parties just one government ruled by THE CONSTITUTION. Did I mention I love my constitution???
But unfortunately how the Constitution was to be implemented and interpreted led to the development of the first two parties(Federalists and Anti-Federalists). Jefferson is rolling over in his grave right now.
Outside of this political discussion, I thought it was awesome the guy climbed the Coaster, and planted the American Flag. Being arrested for trespassing on debris that is in the middle of the ocean, is ridiculous. The only person he was endangering was himself.
I had that exact thought this morning... Who was he hurting? See had that been in Texas the cops prob would have cheered him on then when he finally got down they would say "You can't do that. Do it again we'll take you to jail (wink wink)" or would have just turned their heads and took bets whether he'd fall or not "think we will need to call and abulance?" lol totally bogus! Maybe they need the revenue??
Seaside Heights should just get that garbage out of the ocean but they're too busy keeping bars open and dueshing around with MTV. There is huge debris from those piers miles away on the beach including rides and 20 ft pilings. Lesson: don't mess with seaside heights trash or you will be arrested. I was hit by a car in seaside on a crosswalk by a guy blowing a red light. I brought the police right to the guy and nothing happened because "I was bicycling on the crosswalk". The driver owns a business on the boardwalk so f*ck me. The dude even refused to pay for my bike after admitting what he did to the police. Crazy **** that I still don't get.
"The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. When there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws."
