Ive been out of the water for a LONG time and want to get back in for some waves. I live an hour and a half away so anyone think it would be worth it? its forecasted as chest high in the morning with semi-choppy and then clean in the afternoon with a bit smaller waves. i really want to get out and surf so tell me what you think about the swell and weather in general thanks...

You should wait to decide the day before, it could change a lot. But I'm sure there will be atleast decent waves for the longboard. Maybe shortboard in spots.

Want some lottery tickets, too? What you are really thinking of soliciting in that post is some local knowledge...but that cannot be even given with this general 'chest-semi-clean-small'. Sure, it will be great. I like chest high waves and it sounds like that's what you are asking.
Unless you go into specifics (where) people can't even tell you what their opinion, statistical advantage, with the Law of Probability and Poseidon equation accounted for, is whether there will be waves. Probably not.
Also, what is worth to you driving all those miles might not be worth it to someone else. I'd hold off with wanting to get back in for some waves, hold off for a while.

Short period swell running nearly parallel to the coast....not sure about this one.

In NJ...SSW is suspect and strong offshores...I'd go regardless. Find a southerly facing beach at a low/incoming tide and bring LB/Simmons/etc. You're itching to get out...I'd go regardless.

I was feeling hungry to jump out last weekend and got a nice little beach all to myself. Fun...a bit onshore, but worth it. Even if its knee high...at least you're getting wet.

Gonna be real spot dependent for us with the current wind forecast...just pick your spot wisely...always worth the drive IMO...if I get skunked I just walk my dog and get recon done.

Aggreed... Always worth a check, but when it's not a sure thing to score make sure you have a bike, fishing pole, dog or whatever else you're in to. So, no matter what you'll have a fun day at the beach...

But i don't think the waves are gona do this Sunday... Hopefully I'm wrong

I'd say make the trip and think of it as recon for the next good swell. Some beaches are closed or have tough access with fencing and repair work going on. You may have to park some place different and walk a ways to your usual spots or find some place new. The beach has changed dramatically in some areas - but you might be pleasantly surprised by better sandbars and jettys. The wind is supposed to be strong offshore so catch the first incoming tide of the morning before it's blown out. There is a strong fast moving front coming through which is pretty reliable for strong south winds and south swell but it'll get beat down over the day.
