Another dinosaur tagged off Jacksonville......Be careful everybody. I know the odds are very low but seems like all these little ones that were protected for so long are coming back with numbers http://www.grindtv.com/surf/blog/51...und+great+white+shark+near+florida+surf+spot/
Very strange- the other shark they tagged (Mary Lee) spent some time right near Jacksonville also. She got so close to the beach that the researchers called the Jacksonville PD and they close the beach for the day. I believe she was near Bermuda last.
Pre-Ocearch, local fishermen on occassion have seen great whites off the Jacksonville, FL coast. There are some 2-yr old videos off youtube of great whites filmed off Mayport. Supposedly they swim this far down the coast during the winter to follow and feed on the calving right-whales that migrate to this area of the Atlantic. They most likely chummed the heck out of that water. The funny thing is, if they did the same chumming at that same area during the summer months, you'll see a feeding frenzy of blacktips, bulls, etc.
My husband flies a contraption low and slow just off Sebastian Inlet. He has spotted a great white shark several times only about 100 yards from shore. He said it's an impressive sight
idk about a white, if thats 100% thats a species phenomenon maybe a mako. whites dont like that warm of water (I wouldnt think atleast) lots more fish near shore in florida though thats for sure. for the 18 yrs i lived down there i've seen my share of sharks, but never any whites or tigers for that matter. lots of bull and spinner sharks though
Dude, I watched the video, and it's 100% White and 100% Hanna Park where they brought that baby in. I'm not stoked about it, I surf there every weekend. http://www.local10.com/news/2-000-p...ex.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
it's only a matter of time until someone gets attacked on the east coast. The population of white sharks has been increasing steadily for years. makes you wonder why they are still protected....once any species is on the list it's near impossible to get them off of it
Thousands of swarming sharks empty Florida Beaches... http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/201...f-swarming-sharks-empty-florida-beaches?lite=
white shark hit a guy swimming in truro cape cod this past summer to whoever said its only a matter of time. bit him in the leg, lucky to be alive.
I found this site somewhere a while back. You can see all the reported shark attacks from all over the world. But I think most (non-fatal) were in FL. Scary, as I surf at the poles pretty often close to where Lydia was captured http://www.sharkattackfile.net/incidentlog.htm
My sis worked at MGH when this guy was airlifted in... said it didn't look good (obviously.. f*in shark bit his leg off). She also said that he was aware of the shark chillen in the area yet continued to splash around. GET OUTTA THE WATER, CAN'T YOU HEAR THE MUSIC!?
yeah he was swimming 300 ft offshore possibly had a buddy with a boogy board out there or something. ppl on the beach saw it thrashing around him and stuff... crazy. surfing the cape is kind of creepy because there are so many seals around that pop up right next to you. once i saw the back of a seal breach swimming and it kind of spooked me even though thinking back there was no fin so...my buddies got a good laugh at my reaction.
Anyone else hear the warning to stay out if the water at Mayport because ocearch was chumming for another great White today? Didn't stop me or anyone for that matter 'cuz it was head high. Saw a stationary ship a mile or so out and was wondering if that was them...
Don't worry everybody. im thinking about telling Ocearch not to chum the clean waves. And i carry Binoculars and a VHF radio.
Sorry Florida. i can't see you with my binoculars and my VHF won't reach that far. Still thinking about asking Ocearch why not chum offshore?
Now found in the Gulf, caught by a couple local fisherman up the road from me ... http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blog...ime-catch-234906079--abc-news-topstories.html
