I just bought new fins and i put them in but one of them is a little loose (wobbly), not because of the screw but because of the size of the fin compared to the fin slot. Does anybody know a way to hold it in place better?
Yeah, electric or duct tape once around the base and then a test fit, and then subsequent layers and fittings and you will get it tight. I have a board with this and it works fine.
My third board was a single wobbly fin. I loved it. It seemed to give a snap action off the bottom turns.
Futures? LokBox? The new FCS? For a more permanent fix, you could lay up a couple of layers of cloth just along the tab, trim with a razor blade, then sand it down to fit snug. Like new. I wonder if it's the fin or the box that's out of whack...
Some if not most surf shops carry a heavy duty polyethelene film product specifically for this shimming, it wraps both the sides and the bottom of the fin. Or only one side if that is all that is required. This problem is inherent in longboard fins as there are different boxes and the fins have greater surface to box area. Most shops I have seen will simply give the film away if you need it.
