http://quiksilverlive.com/progoldcoast/2013/live.en.html Trials just started. They are probably going to begin the contest tomorrow
yup, should go tomorrow with 6 foot surf... slightly dropping into the weekend. They will for sure get it on tomorrow. Rain and thunderstorms starting tomorrow and lasting through the event... Crap weather, but the swell is decent enough for a green light.
I think Coastalwatch is more inaccurate than MSW, if that's even possible. Their entire forecast has changed twice now. They're probably going to wait for more sand to fill in before they run the men.
Damn, they're delaying it..... I bet they're going to go lay day and run the women's again.... Good thing, I've changed my team 3 times today
My crew did a great job in round one. Got a couple of guys going head to head today... should be quality surfing.
Skateboarding? Nah, it was surfing. He entered the expression session that ran before Round 2 and hurt himself in that. Probably learned a lesson--when you're in the top 5, DON'T ENTER EXPRESSION SESSIONS! I hope he's back before Bells Beach, otherwise I have some serious FS team shuffling to do.
Stayed up till 2am last night to Watch Kelly's 4th round matchup. He won it with his last wave with about 2 minutes left in the heat... After his final layback hack that he stuck, he raised his hands at the judges like "What more can I do"? He took first in the round. Classic. I questioned Kelly's sanity entering the round, as he pulled out a 5'9 Epoxy board that he hasnt ridden in the whole event... On his first two waves, you could see that he lost torque through a turn because of the Epoxy and fell over the back and then he did a little air and couldnt land it because the wind caught the Epoxy board and it just spun it like a piece of paper above the lip..... BUT THEN, on his last two waves, he was completely dialed in and shredded it... So I then retracted my judgement... At first it looked like he wouldnt make it out of the round though. Seems like these judges are going kind of old school. Giving big scores for some decent power turns... But no offense, the conditions the past few days havent really let these guys surf world class ASP style... Just guys out doing turns with the occasional air... I hope to see some more risks and progression in the final rounds. Thus far its been a tad boring... Seen more risks and tricks and power turns at the OB Pier on a random Thursday.
good news is it's not broken...in a vid on surfline says he hopes to be back for bells. i hope, for his sake, that he doesn't rush to be back or push too hard to be back for that event & that he's truly healed up so that he doesn't risk further or longer-term damage. a guy i surf w/ regularly hurt his ankle landing an air in late august this year & didn't surf for almost 7 months...just got back in the water in feb. he's still doing pt on it to keep it loose. ankle injuries are no joke.
2nd heat of semis on now -- Slater vs Fanning. Parko won over Bourez in 1st semi. They're down at Kirra now with lots of sweet barrels. http://quiksilverlive.com/progoldcoast/2013/live.en.html
Kelly Wins it!!! Man, those Aussies must HATE him! Taking our Parko, Taj and Fanning on their home turf... They own snapper! Kelly is ridiculous! Glad I started him in Fantasy =)
