My dream is showing up not expecting surf only to find it going off with no one out. I start to run and get my board then get sidetracked into helping someone move their grandmas grand piano up 5 flights of stairs for 4 hours, the whole time thinking about the waves. It usually ends with me getting back to the beach. Better late then never, I run up and over the dune only to realize I forgot my board, I then wake up.

I don't know what He would do in that situation. But if He forgot His board like others have in their dreams it wouldn't matter. He can walk on water!

I haven't been a member long, so I'm really going out on a limb here...

In this dream I'm paddling into a nice wave off Avila Beach in central Calif. As I'm about to catch the wave, my old Jacobs board transforms into a beautiful Polynesian maiden (no "pop-up" problem). Suddenly, I'm transported, finding myself face-down on a railroad track with on oncoming train about to spread me all over the rails. I pop up and fall backwards down an embankment, landing in a foul, scummy pond. Out from under the water pops Turtleman with his goofy hillbilly laugh. But leaning over me is a drooling T. Rex. I run the hell outta there, T.Rex in hot pursuit. Boom-boom-boom!! He's getting closer! I scoot around a large rock and find myself on a busy city sidewalk, barefooted and in nothing but my Fruit of the Looms. At least they're my dark pair.

The sharp gravel sticks in my bare feet. It starts to snow, so I duck into a Mexican cantina. "Dos cervazas por favor," was the only Spanish I could recall. From somewhere I was able to shake loose enough change for a beer. As my eyes grew accustomed to the darkness, I noticed that it's the biker bar from the movie "From Dusk to Dawn". Not waiting for Salma Hayek's snake dance (love that part), I escape out the door only to face T. Rex with Turtleman's cackling head in its mouth! Shocked and terrified, I run down to the water.

I'm at Big Sur looking offshore to a large nearby rock. On it appears to be a beautiful sunbathing woman. She beckons, so I swim out to the rock through the churning, surging white water. It's a struggle to the top. Barnacles and mussel shells dig into my bare feet. Loose change falls in the water. My Fruit of the Looms are in tatters. I reach the top at last! But it's not a beautiful woman waiting for me, it's an in-drag, Fat Bastard "mer-man"! He/she's eating a bucket of greasy fried chicken, pork rinds, and anchovie pizza. The sight was disgusting. The smell, beyond imagination. "Good Gawd!!" I scream. Just then a huge wave washes me off the rock, and I awaken on bedsheets soaked with sweat, vomit, and urine.

Anyway, that's how i remember it. Then again, I went to college in Calif. during the seventies and likely killed a more than a few brain cells in the process. I may still have issues. Maybe watch too much television.

As far as surfing dreams, I have had many of those. Some have been some of the most useful things that may have ever happened to my surfing... For instance, back in 2003-2004, like most other young surfers, I was obsessed with airs. Learning them, practicing them. To the point that on most days, I would blow a lot of good waves by just flying down the line and trying to get air off of a section.... Anyway, one night, i had a very vivid, very real dream and in the dream, I was doing front and backside air reverses and 360s. The dream was so real, that it played tricks on my mind... It was as if it had all really happened. I think it was a culmination of me watching so many and studying so many successful airs and things like that along with a combination of the hand full of decent ones that I had been successful with.... So, and already long story short is that from that next day forward, my brain was better linked to the physics of the moves I was trying to do, and from that day forward, I started landing more and more every day... it was like something just clicked in my head... It was like that vivid dream got saved into my memory/reality bank rather than storing it away as a dream. It was like that entire session had actually happened. It had a lot to do with trying to stop "Ollying" and just getting speed and holding your line.... But it all started getting better after a super vivid dream.

But it was crazy... I swear that in a single dream, my surfing progressed and I moved on from there... Very weird... The brain is a powerful thing.

Good stuff, and I believe it. The subconscious is a powerful thing, it's very complex. If you do any reading about the brain and how it's "programming" works, you'll see why this all makes sense. I've read some books on it and it's pretty deep but very interesting.
