http://www.thenewportbuzz.com/ruggles-gets-new-life/207438/ Surfers getting together and taking political action DOES make a difference.
The council passed the resolution 6-0 with the original resolve that the CRMC is urged to review its plans to ensure that the Ruggles Avenue Surf break remains uninterrupted and that the reef habitat is not harmed during or after Cliff walk repairs. There is a great showing of support from the council and the community. We are excited to be a part of the meeting on Friday at 1PM with DOT/CRMC/ACOE and look forward to being actively involved in the future design of cliff walk repairs. However, this is far-far from over. This is going to be a long process, but with positive energy and ever-improving partnerships, we can do amazing things. The petition remains open, please share it widely. For daily updates please visit http://www.cleanoceanaccess.org/ Thanks for all your support from around the world!
I imagine it's going to be difficult for ri dot to pass their proposed project without any support from crmc and the city council. Am I correct in this logic? Last nights meeting was great.
Wish I could've made the meeting, impossible for me time-wise coming from CT after work...definitely a step in the right direction, let's keep our guard up though...first round goes to us, let's keep up the good fight.
