Saw an article yesterday some kid caught a sizable mako right off the beach, at night.

That shark was caught about a mile offshore of the beach I frequently swim and bodysurf at. It was the front page story of the local paper today: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/broward/fl-great-white-shark-20130410,0,7651668.story

    From that article:
That's the way I look at it, too. And:
I agree. And if the South Florida wind chop/slop holds up I intend on catching a few waves later today...

ha5.jpg reeling them in at shore? obviously we let the seal population overload these waters on the east coast to have these beasts lurking in places like florida now

That water is at least 75 degrees. Toastier water temps than I what I assumed GWS preferred

I'd rather see the friggin piping plovers at Cape Point in Buxton hunted down. They interfere more with my enjoyment of the ocean and beach than sharks. 1000 meter clearance to the nests. Give me a break. I suppose they're starting to nest soon. Hey, maybe we can teach the sharks to eat them plovers instead :D

The seal population has nothing to do with it down in Florida... It does up in th NE, but down south they are just eating fish.

    not eating fish.
The large whites don't care about fish. They are down there eating migratory sharks like the schools of spinners and blacktips you see in the news. They are also eating whales that are wintering over down south, especially the sick and young.

Manisses- you called it, that guy's the man, love his reaction, literally can't contain himself at one point. And stinkbug, was wondering what they were feeding on but didn't bother looking it up, so thank you.

That is effin nuts!!! I wonder if that guy heard about the dude in NZ that had a white grab his yak! I've had an 18' white swim by my 22' center consol and felt small... If I was in a yak I would have had a heart attack
