Just wondering if American Airlines still makes you pay for boards if you fly 1st/Business class?

no it's very Merkin. Corporations are people too my friend. Fuggin Job Creators need every cent in order to keep this country afloat. Let's all agree that taking food off of granny's plate is best for the country.

A positive aspect of AA FC / Biz is they don't open your board bag, unlike economy where they are sometimes kind of aggressive in their miserly, board-counting ways. In other words, you do get treated a bit better from the git-go when traveling FC / Biz.

You can cram 3 boards in there for the $300 RT hosing that you receive. And they'll still damage them at no charge.

I figured with 1st class they might cut you a break since they give you 3 checked bags for free. I wouldn't need to check anything, but my boards which equals about three suitcases in size. Would be nice if they took that into consideration, but I'm sure they don't. I try to never check bags anywhere I go non-surf-wise. Just a hassle.

the only way your board flies free is if it fits in a golf bag

or if you fly w/ an airline that isn't based in the USA. so many international airlines not only treat their customers better but don't charge for boards & other luggage as well. fly on one & have your mind blown.

I took sansa in 91. boards were last ones on and first ones off, no fee. Party flight. everyone was drinking (free), and standing in the aisles.

Ya, I remember going to Costa Rica on American in 93' and it was like that. Smoking was still allowed on flights back then and the back of the plane really was a party. They kept the booze at the back of the plane too and would just hand the bottles out right and left. I was literally drunk getting off the plane and going through customs in San Jose. Customs guy didn't even ask me a question, just stamped the passport and said have a good time. It was fun until 4 hours later when we're hungover and halfway lost at night no less, trying to find the place we were staying near Salsa Brava. Still can't believe we finally found it.
