Buddy of mine contracted dengue, aka 'breakbone fever,' while in Asia. Said no words can describe what it feels like(bad). The name alone...

just because he had meth in and on him doesn't mean he died from it. You Joiseys sure are a smart bunch. But if yous were so smart, yous wouldn't be living in Jerksey.

& making fun of people from jersey...that's real original & creative! no one has EVER done it!

AI was a great surfer, a legend in his own time; the sad truth of his legacy is also one of drug use & abuse. trying to whitewash over that by pretending that he died of a disease not only cheapens that but removes any possibility that surfers in general & the industry in particular learn from the mistakes that were made.

While there is risk of dengue, the likelihood of getting it is fairly small and the likelihood of dying from it even smaller. My wife has had it twice when she was a kid, and say the flu is worse. Definitely not a reason to cancel a trip. If you are very concerned just wear bug repellent during the day (that is when the type of mosquito that generally carries dengue is out and about).
Might as well stay away from anywhere in Latin America, Caribbean, or anywhere tropical based on this map http://www.healthmap.org/dengue/

He's actually still alive and was involved with the Boston bombing. The govt faked his death, brainwashed him and turned him in to an assassin. I knew those kids were framed!

Just got back from a week in Negra. 5th trip i've made there in 4 years. Have never had a problem with it, and neither has anyone from my group (and at times, we went down with the GF's and fiances, so we had large groups).

This year was different. I've been home for 9 days and I'm suffering from Dengue for the 8th day in a row. It's a mild case, and for the first few days, was only stomach related. The fever and rash aspect of it kicked in late last week, and i've typically got enough energy to take a shower and eat breakfast before I have to take a nap. same thing all day long. do something that requires time on my feet, and an hour nap is required.

I will still go back to Costa/Central America, no questions asked. Its very rare, and I was just unlucky. I will just be a little more careful in the future with bug spray. Have always been more focused on the big ass spiders (who won't bother you), while I should have been protecting myself from the mosquitos....

Now it's back to bed for another nap...

Ciguatera is found in tropical waters fish, Dengue comes from skeeter bites. Were they trying to imply the Dengue was in the fish?

thanks, have a mild case. was able to go to work during the first phase of it, being mostly stomach related. this spiking fever phase though has drained all energy, and i'm home today...

Want to say this though. I spoke with my friends down there, and while it's there, it isn't all that common. In no way is my post something bad about CR, or specifically Negra.

Check that, mosquitos everywhere. everyone stop going to negra. wave stinks too.

No. 2 different places at different times. sorry to be vague. Demasiado mota en la tarde. But if one had cholera and was bitten by a skeeter that had dengue and then bit someone else.......... Maybe.
