Very emotionally response gnargnar. Pat Tillman died in Iraq ask his parents how they feel about the military. I think they would spit in his commanding officers face if they ever met him. I bet you didnt know that the govt was found responsible for the death of M.L.K in a civil trail. Look up operation northwoods. I'm not making this stuff up

So you're telling me that the sweet words of Will Pepper and a jury of 12 people stand alone as concrete evidence that MLK was assassinated in a conspiracy and not by James Earl Ray? I did know about the conspiracy, but I think that the mere fact that you doubted that knowledge in me is very telling. I think it means that you already assumed that it slipped under the radars of most people because of its insignificance. The truth is that it is a decision made by a group of people who do not represent the entire population of the country and who are not clairvoyant means that their decisions are not rock solid proof of something happening. It comes down to this: there will always be a group of people who cling to conspiracies. The decision of beliefs is something this country is rooted in and is something we can all agree on as something we love about it. Are there questionable things that have happened? Yes. Did the military lie to the Tillman's? Yes. Does it change the fact that he fought for our right to disagree with each other right now? Absolutely not. All of that aside, my post was not about government conspiracies as a whole. It was about the Boston Bombing, and that there are hard fact and evidence to prove that it was not an act of the government on its own people. You can discuss previous scandals and conspiracies all you want, but it does not detract from or add to the argument regarding Boston.

What do you guys say about taking all this political pissing contest back over to Huffington Post, Salon or wherever else it actually belongs?

It started off as a complete political jab in the first place... What the hell is it doing here?

You said WE are responsible for our GOVT killing civilians in Iraq... Using that logic then Iraqis were responsible for Saddam raping and torturing women.
I know he is dead as well as VBin Laden, and I am glad. I'm sure you would have attended their funerals if you could...
Ohhhh. If someone knows something they googled it, but you know all...
Bloomberg is NOT my boy. Sounds like he is your boy.... I would imagine that he is nothing less than a "self righteous dbag"

FYI - I am not someone that believes everythingthe govt tells them. I know they are all lying dbags and deserve no trust. But people that scream Conspiracy every time something happens sound like FOOLS... Sometimes Bad people do Bad things. And it is obvious tha this is one of those times.

I was being facetious. If we were a true Christian nation, we'd take care of "the lesser of us", "turn the other cheek", and not "cast the first stone".
our founding fathers wanted no part of religion.

I don't think anyone will ever know the whole story about the bombing. Just like 9/11, some will believe the govt story, some will believe the conspiracy stories, and some will be stuck in the middle. Amidst all this we will have an official story that is put out by the government and it makes it very easy for someone who has done no research to take that story as gospel truth. The flip side, someone can always justify a conspiracy. The evidence of proof on either side, surprisingly, is about equal. So you get this split dialogue.

I, for one, think to have this dialogue is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT and it actually defines what America is all about. Places like North Korea, China, Cuba, Pakistan...these are places where political disonance is punishable by extremes. These are places where "thinking" can be considered dangerous. The difference between those places and the USA? We have a Constitution. Seriously, that's about it. When it comes down to it, we have rights that are higher than any government entity and if we don't exercise them then we will find ourselves losing them very quickly.

Case in point, what happened after 9/11? The Patriot Act...it was an assault on rights in the name of fighting terrorism. What happened after Boston? "Shelter in Place" - AKA Martial Law. Not good. Violation of 4th Amendment. TSA? Well that goes into the 4th amendment also. What was the response to Sandy Hook and Aurora? A push for gun/ammo bans....eroding the 2nd amendment. These are responses to tragic events...I'm not even gonna start with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)....google that one for a nightmare read. That thing infringes on about every Bill of Right.

Point is that unless people exercise their god-given rights, and push to maintain them, then terrorism has already won. I am way less concerned with Conspiracies than I am with how we respond to acts of terrorism. The Martial Law thing in Boston and Watertown was absolutely horrific. To see the people cheering for police to invade their homes, guns drawn, was horrible and should not happen in a free society. And my evidence of support? We have a Constitution. I don't need to even go any further. It ends there. I win that argument at the highest court every time.

Jeez, after years of writing letters to The Press of Atlantic City, Courier Post, Philadelphia Inquirer and the greatest periodical in the world, The Hammonton Gazette, I just gave up arguing politics two weeks ago....

    And now look at this.

Sorry Erock and others who are upset about these types of discussions, but I think it's great. I mean how many threads can you stomach about some dude who doesn't know how to put a wetsuit on......or someone asking if there's going to be waves in Hatteras June 9- June 14, 2016................

Though I haven't read these posts yet, it's a beautiful thing. Imagine surfers ingaging in coversations about things other than happy smoke and twitchen tubes. Say some non-surfing prude stumbles on here, they'll be shocked. Surfing's reputation will be improved and maybe, Skippy down in Southern North CArolina will get hired for that summer job he's been looking for.............

    All because of this thread.

Hey, did La Costra Nostra kill JFK? Why are we here? Was there ever "Nothing?" Could and did nothing ever "exist?" How the hell did this expansive universe come to be? I know these aren't all political but I'll be counting on you, the Swellifo community, to help me discover the answers to these mysteries.

AHHH MAN, I just had an idea for a TV show. A group of Swellinfo message board dudes go and investigate some of these unexplained phenomenons and unanswered questions of our world. I want six people. Hmmmm. Of course Erock's got one of them, if he wants it. Need five more.............

This will be my first and only post in any of these "political/government" threads but I look forward to some feedback.
We all have different viewpoints on who is to blame for the mess we as a country are in right now. Culturally, economically, socially, environmentally. We do know there are problems. The government is taking away our rights. No jobs. Crime and terrorism. Pollution. Uneven wealth. You guys all (well most of you) seem intelligent so answer my question:
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT ALL THIS? WHAT ARE YOUR SOLUTIONS?
*****ing on a surfing forum raises awareness and promotes dialogue (good things) but that's all it does. WHAT ACTION WILL YOU TAKE TO RIGHT THE SHIP?
I'm 50 years old and have had a good run on the blue marble we live on. You young fellas have your life ahead of you. As do my sons. If you do nothing then things will only get worse.

+1000000. I'm not huge into conspiracies but I believe we are losing are liberties/rights. The patriot act was the worst piece of legislation ever passed. They passed it in the name of security which everyone thinks we need. It is impossible to stop terrorism. People should read the Patriot Act. It's a long read but it will make you vomit. They suspended typical rights of not just foreign terrorists but American citizens. They can say that anyone (including American citizens) are a terrorist without any proof and then detain you in isolation for days. They don't have to tell your family members that you are detained. Think about that for a second. Let's say the government really want to get rid on the 2nd amendment. They can consider people demonstrating to keep the 2nd amendment terrorists. They can wisk you away and hold you in isolation while your family has no idea where the hell you are. Now, that is scary. Also, you don't get a trial by a jury of peers. You will be tried by military tribunal. I urge people to just read the Patriot Act which pisses on the constitution. This is scary ****.

That is sort of a crazy stretch dont you think? My rights have not been compromised since 9/11.
People who sit around and think about conspiracies that the govt has set up mass murders in order to increase the stranglehold over american citizens is just the result of leisure imagination. In one's mind where they don't have to setup and by pass anything that would happen in reality.... its easy to see how conspiracies could work.
But think about it, an american citizen has political aspirations. they become an elected official. at what point are they brought into the back room and told about how the govt is using setups to further its policy?

It would be exposed somewhere other than a surfing forum, where stoners and college kids and crazy travelling gnomes are telling us how it is.
